For the record, I believe that Captain America was right to oppose the SHRA, but when he saw the the amount of human life being wasted in the fighting, he did the onl;y decent thing and surrended to Federal custody. What will happen to him( will he be interned in the negative zone prison for super human criminals- an allegory for "Gitmo"? Will the President pardon him?) More to the point what will happen to the Resistance? Will it just peter out?

good question i thin the resistans most notably the new avengers will try to carry on without cap but within the law

I doubt the president will pardon him. The president is an extension of the government, and the government backed the SHRA.

I agree with 3dman: it looks like the New Avengers will be the last vestige of the Secret Avenger resistance. Then the Hulk looks like he'll be getting a team together for some unknown reason, and I suspect they'll be against both sides. We also don't know which side, if any, Thor will come down on when he returns.

New Avengers, New Warriors and some other random people are still upholding their stance on the resistance.

Who are the New Warriors going to be? Justice has clearly fallen in line with the SHRA, given that he'll be training super-noobs in Avengers: The Initiative.

Who knows, and really who cares. I dont.

My question is that now that Cap has choked under the pressure, is he still seen as a hero by Spidey, Punisher, etc?

I think it's a safe bet to say that Thor will get with the resistance. No way he's gonna be chummy with Tony and Reed after they've cloned him.

Spidey is still fighting even after Cap told them to stand down. I'd say they are none too pleased. Probably very disappointed.

He told them to stand down, from the ongoing battle. Spidey isn't going after SHIELD, please show me where this is happening, he is just continuing his fight against evil, as is the New Avengers. Lets not start warping things. Nobody in the Marvel Universe is disappointed in Cap, as clearly stated by the respect they still show him with Luke Cage telling the Avengers they are Avengers because Cap said they are Avengers, if thats disappointment, then we're looking at different definitions of the word.

What Cap did was IMHO heroic. He realized that while the SHRA was wrong, fighting it as a true battle was doing more harm than good. He took responsibility for his actions and turned himself in. Tony should take a lesson from Cap, and do the right thing.

Exactly. He realized what most of us said from day one, the SHRA is wrong, but beating each other up over it is not the way to go about getting rid of it.

I still wont forgive Marvel for the ***** tears though.

While Cap was right Marvel really never gave them a decent plan. You dont oppose a law violently...you do it from the inside. Honestly I would have seen Cap approach the Government and tell them you want to register us because innocents are being hurt then I'll do it. Everyone is now an Avenger with me in charge and the government liason....there would have been no capekillers, no evil Thunderbolts, no prison in the Negative Zone. You could still do the 52 Inititive. This would lead into the villains mobilizing since all they see is Cap has an army now. Plus it would take away the stupid plot device of heroes fighting heroes....thats how I would have done it.

I think part of the problem is when refused to be party to the SHRA Sheild fired on him. So he was in fight or flight mode. He wasn't really given much time to think about it. The way the the Shield Gestapo marched in on anyone who didn't sign up immediately was pretty evil too. There was no attempt to talk with Luke Cage or anyone else that I recall other than Patsy Walker.

In all fairness, Tony Stark and Carl Danvers did talk with Cage. Tony suggested that by registering Cage could address from the inside his fears about those who would be responsible for directing the heroes having improper motives or agendas.

He won't get a pardon. And honestly, the Resistance was contingent on Captain America, and it will reflect that with him leaving. That since he gave up, many of them will too (so to speak). A few factions will remain, but for the most part, the resistance will dissolve.

The tears looked WEIRD.

As soon as Thor returns, Cap'll be out of jail and this whole mess will be sorted out :oldrazz:
I wonder if we will be treated to anymore of those interesting chess games Tony likes to have with people in jail. Only this time with Cap.

I hope we are, and I hope Cap wins every time, further driving home the point that Cap's only there by choice. :)

It'd be funny if Thor returned and just gave Tony hell for what he did to Cap and the super-hero community. He should also beat the snot out of Iron Man for making an inferior clone of himself. Seriously, if Thor was around, there wouldn't have been a Civil War.

That would be pretty rockin. Two genius' in tactics and strategy. It would be awesome. But I somehow doubt he'd win all that much, but it WOULD rock.

No, there probably would have been. And if Thor actually went "medival" over people, there would have been a superhuman ban altogether.

If Thor were around, he would've probably ignored the SHRA during the debate phase and joined Cap's side when the fighting began. If nothing else, Bill Foster would still be alive and the war would've probably ended after that battle because you know Thor would've ripped Clor apart and then kicked Tony and Reed's asses for daring to imitate his divine genes.
