A small scan gives a glimpse of Link using a morning star somewhat reminiscent of Onox’s weapon from Oracle of Seasons.

Awesome! I'm hoping Ghirihim and some other baddies will be playable too.

Hyrule Warriors Details On Fi, New Weapons, And What Rupees Do. July 10, 2014 . 1:58am

According to Famitsu, Fi moves around with dance-like movements, while gliding around in the air, and transforms into a sword to cut down enemies

The sword spirit, Fi, from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, has been revealed as the newest playable character in Hyrule Warriors. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares a few more details on her and some of the game’s weapons.

According to the magazine report, Fi moves around with dance-like movements, while gliding around in the air, and transforms into a sword to cut down enemies.

The Ball and Chain weapon you got a glimpse of in the earlier report, that looks like the one Link used in Twilight Princess is one of the new weapons, is used with the Power Gloves, which can also be used to pick up heavy objects to crush enemies.

Additionally, the magazine shows Zelda using the Wind Waker as a weapon, that can be used to bring out strong winds to blow away enemies, along with some electric attacks. It can also be used to call out tornados that can keep enemies in place.

In addition to showing Ghirahim add the Imprisoned, it looks like Hyrule Warriors has some more to do with Skyward Sword, as the magazine shows the Skyloft and Pumpkin Landing.

You can level up characters by defeating enemies in the battlefield, but levels can also be raised with Rupees, and the higher the level is, the more it costs.

By using materials and Rupees, you can make badges that are helpful in combat. The badges with better effects require more Rupees and rare materials to make. While enemies are set to drop the same material for the most part, they can occasionally drop some rare materials, as well.

At the Badge Shop, it looks like there are branches of badge slots, where you can look at them to see their effects, along with the required materials and amount of Rupees needed to make them.

Hyrule Warriors will be released in Japan this August and September in North America for Wii U.

How The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Helped One Girl Overcome Her Illness. July 10, 2014 . 5:31pm

The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma recently shared a touching story about a girl who overcame her illness with the help of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Video games can evoke all kinds of feelings from players, ranging from happiness to sadness—sometimes even courage. The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma recently shared with fans a touching story about a girl who overcame her illness with the help of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Here’s what Aonuma said:
Since I began working on The Legend of Zelda, what has moved me the most came from a certain fan letter. This letter was from the mother of an elementary school girl, who was hospitalized due to an illness, and she gave her daughter Ocarina of Time so she could play it while rehabilitating.

At first, she felt “this is impossible for me,” but over time, she began getting the hang of it. Then one day, she told her mother, “if Link is trying this hard, then I will, too!” as she put more effort into her rehabilitation. And before they knew it, she was back to her healthy self.

After reading the letter, I thought about how Link is someone who is being controlled by the player, but there’s also a little something he was able to give back over time [in this case, courage to the little girl].

To think that one could put in more effort after watching Link to do the same, and that such a positive way of thinking arose from the game, is something that makes me very happy.

It’s not that we purposely intend that while making games, but the key lies within what the players get to experience in the world.

However, I believe that The Legend of Zelda is a game that can possibly bring out such feelings, and if you could start expecting that from now on, it’d bring me great pleasure!

Both Aonuma and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto have said in the past that Link is meant to serve as an avatar for the player. In recent comments, Aonuma even encouraged fans to provide Nintendo with their thoughts on the way he looks in the trailer for the Wii U Zelda game, upon hearing that some mistook him for a lady.

“That might be something that consciously we kind of did, but not to say anything specific—I am not saying anything specific—but, I am hoping people continue to comment, and I will continue to follow the fan comments and reactions to the trailer,” Aonuma said to Game Informer.

“I am certainly curious, and I am sure there are things we as developers can glean.”

Nintendo have been making an effort to include more female characters in their games of late, and recently discussed the benefits of having varied development teams. Judging by Aonuma’s previous comments and now this story about the Ocarina girl, it sounds like he’s certainly got player inclusion on his mind.

Hyrule Warriors Has The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword And Twilight Costumes. July 10, 2014 . 11:56pm

Don’t like the way Link or Zelda look in Hyrule Warriors? Koei Tecmo added costumes that allow players to pick The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword costumes.

Don’t like the way Link or Zelda look in Hyrule Warriors? Koei Tecmo added costumes that allow players to pick The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword costumes. These items are part of the Courage costume pack, which is included with the Premium Box version and Treasure Box version in Japan.

Expect more costumes in Hyrule Warriors since there are also Power and Wisdom costume packs included with the 13,800 yen Treasure Box.

New screenshots from the game show Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as a plaayble character. She gracefully cuts down Moblins and can transform into a sword.

Skyward Sword enemies Ghirahim and the Imprisoned are also in the Wii U game.

Even more

We’ve seen Zelda with a rapier before. Her other weapon is the Wind Waker wand which can blow away enemies.

Almost done

Hyrule Warriors comes out in Japan on August 14, then Europe on September 19, and finally North America on September 26.

I'm really interested in this game. The use of characters and items from multiple games just shows how much effort and detail went into making this.

GET HERE ALREADY SEPTEMBER!!!!!

My interest level is sort of up and down, because I know no matter how cool playing with the Zelda lore is, it'll still be an overly repetitive Warriors game that will wear out it's welcome way sooner than later. It's a battle between knowing the gameplay will be weak compared to playing with stuff from Zelda's history.

I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game before. It obviously doesn't very deep, but it looks entertaining. All the characters and weapons should keep me entertained enough to get my money's worth.

If you can find doing more or the less the same thing over again and again and again with absolutely no variation entertaining, you should be fine.

I am kind of curious how this game will do.

I also wonder if it will devalue like Dynasty Warrior games, or appreciate like a regular Zelda game.

I am very reluctant to pay full price for a glorified DW game, even though I'm a huge Zelda fan.

I'm pretty certain there will be instances of where I put down the game for something else (the months afterward pretty much makes it a certainty). I've had to put down Monster Hunter a few times when I was doing some grinding for parts.

This game will be curious, because to those who have played Dynasty Warriors, they'll think it's the same game. To those who haven't (like me for instance) this is a chance to play a new kind of Zelda game without expectations.

Will it be repetitive? Probably. But it'll be up to us to make sure it's not the same thing over and over again. And I'm sure Aonuma and crew thought of this when making the game.

Regardless, the chance to play as some of these characters make this a must-buy game.

You're probably going to be fairly surprised going into the game with this attitude, if it's the standard Warriors-fare. The truth is that it's not up to the player. You fight more or less the same enemies who either run at you and attack or shot arrows at you until you're close enough and then run up and attack you. You can custom the skin and stats of your weapons, but they all play pretty much the same. Very little variation between weapon functionality, on really variation between characters is health. They are very repetitive games with few options.

I don't know if they're doing much to distinguish this from the standard fare or not, but the videos seem to be the same ol' Warriors formula. Now, they do "expansion packs" called Empires and Xtreme Legends that add strategy elements from the sister series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. That could add some spice. But otherwise, honestly, a think a lot of people who aren't familiar with Warriors are going to be kind of shocked by just how repetitive this type of game is (barring any tweaks on the formula).

Pretty much this. I think it will be a rude awakening for those not knowing what to expect.

Hyrule Warriors Has Worlds Fusing Together, Says Fi’s Character Profile. July 14, 2014 . 1:31pm

Nintendo of America have shared their official English-language descriptions for the latest set of newly-revealed characters that will appear in Hyrule Warriors/

Nintendo of America have shared their official English-language descriptions for the latest set of newly-revealed characters that will appear in Hyrule Warriors, and their description of Fi in particular is interesting, because it sounds like it hints at the game’s overall story, which we still don’t know much about.

Fi’s description includes a tidbit about world fusing together, which isn’t something that has been mentioned explicitly before in regards to Hyrule Warriors. We’ll probably see Koei Tecmo discuss this aspect of the game in the weeks to come. Oh, and before you ask, it has already been confirmed that this game exists outside of the Zelda timeline.

Fi:

Fi is the spirit of the “Goddess Sword” sealed inside the Statue of the Goddess in Skyloft. Once the worlds became fused together, Fi was transported from the world of Skyward Sword into the world of Hyrule Warriors.

With extensive knowledge and a highly analytical mind, Fi thinks things through logically and offers advice and wisdom to whoever holds the sword. Its body is made of a blue, metal-like material. Although it has the appearance of a young girl, Fi is genderless and does not have emotions.

Fi floats and moves in the air, and transforms into a sword to attack.
Girahim:

Ghirahim is the Demon Lord who tried to resurrect his master; the leader of the demons who was sealed away.

He is enormously proud of himself, and vain about his own appearance. He may appear to be formal and polite at first, but once he loses his temper, his brutal and cruel nature emerges.

He attacks with multiple knives in the air, or transforms himself into a giant blade to slash his enemy in a single sweep. He is skilled with swords of all kind, and also good at confusing his enemies with his teleportation ability and by summoning demons. When he loses his composure, he transforms to enhance his power and increase his attack abilities.
The Imprisoned:

His entire body is covered in hard, scale-like protrusions. On top of his head you can see the stake that was once used to seal him away, but due to his massive size, you won’t be able to attack it directly. There are, however, some soft, white areas at the tips of his toes….

The Imprisoned is a massive, mountainous beast whose heavy stomping creates powerful shockwaves that can blow away anything nearby.

The dark beast who was imprisoned in the Sealed Grounds in the world of Skyward Sword. He is believed to have the power to lead the world to destruction.
Hyrule Warriors will be available this September for the Wii U in North America.

It is kind of an interesting, union. One of the most forgettable gaming series meets one of the most memorable.

I hope critics don't treat it with kid gloves like they do all Zelda games.

it'll depend on the game play if most of the enimes npc's don't do what was done in the past games like "just stand there waiting for you to attack" if that's the case then it's screwed . I remember Tommy Tolerico always tore into the serie for that especially his final review at Video games live with vic's before he only did the latter as job.

its the very reason why the series is despised in North America ad the west.

Story wise as I said they(Nintendo) i should have went with the people that made the Sengoku Basara series. we'll see how this turns out . I was hoping the main zelda creator was handling the story parts and over all design while they did the game play. well don't expect to be like normal Zelda as I suspected. we'll just have to wait to see if this turns out good or not

I was bored one day and decided to take my Zelda idea and write a quick summary of it.

The Legend of Zelda: Book of Sages (working title)
Centuries after Ocarina of Time, Hyrule has gone through a dramatic evolution. The marvel of many scientific inventions have caused the fantastical land to become technologically advanced with electric lighting and primitive automobiles, but at a cost. The Hylians have grown less dependent on their spirituality as science and technology are becoming a substitute for their needs. This new Enlightenment has caused the beliefs in the Goddesses and the Triforce itself to dwindle and decay. The Temples once sacred have been replaced by buildings of industry. Only the Temple of Time remains intact as a house of worship. Link-a Page from a peasant family in a rural Hylian town-is sent with an important message to the Kingdom's leading physician as Princess Zelda has grown deathly ill. Once he retrieves the physician they return to the palace so the physician can examine the Princess. The physician tells the family some grave news: Zelda is in fact suffering from an unknown ailment. He does not know when she will succumb to it, but it appears to be soon. Link hears this upon eavesdropping through the bedroom keyhole. Link quickly exits the castle, but not before word of the Princess's illness spreads throughout the town. Link seeks help from a Hylian scholar to see if she knows of anything that can cure Zelda. The scholar who is an expert historian tells Link of an ancient object known as the Triforce which is known for its mysterious supernatural properties, but she does not know how to obtain it. She tells Link that the Triforce's location was kept a secret by the Sages centuries ago, only the bearer's of its power can know its true location. Link devastated by the news thanks the scholar and leaves. As Link walks through the castle town, his eye catches a puppet show being performed for the children of the town. The story is of an ailing princess who upon her death great chaos consumed the land. Only a great hero who can traverse to the seven temples and retrieve the mystical Triforce would be able to save her, but it was for not. At the end of the show, Link tries to learn more about the Triforce from the mysterious puppeteer. When Link goes to the back of the small stage, a man in a mask is revealed. He tells Link he had been expecting him. He reveals he knows where he can find the Triforce pieces scattered throughout Hyrule, but before revealing anything else he disappears into the shadows. A note is left with the words: See the forest for the trees and into the woods you shall see... Link sees this as a clue to the first temple, and so his journey begins.

well I'd be down with a a some what si-fi Zelda if it happened nice work keep it up.

Zelda Waves The Wind Waker In Hyrule Warriors. July 17, 2014 . 12:06am

Zelda has at least two weapons in Hyrule Warrior, a rapier and the Wind Waker. While the rapier is a fast weapon designed to cut through enemies straight ahead, the Wind Waker appears to be better for crowd control.
