Stable is much preferred IMO than a higher frame rate that can't stay consistent.

That isn't really the issue. The issue is resolution vs. FPS. And FPS is always more important then resolution.

any speculation as to where BotW lands on the timeline?
I don't speculate I let them tell me . Here's their answer below

Legend of Zelda Producer Aonuma Talks About Breath of the Wild’s Place In The Series’ Timeline. January 20, 2017 . 8:00am

Long-time Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma recently spoke in interview about the upcoming Breath of the Wild, during which Aonuma was asked where exactly this latest game would fall in the series’ chronology.

When it comes to The Legend of Zelda series of games, nearly every title in the series is connected to each other by a branching timeline. Long-time Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma recently spoke to Waypoint about the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, during which Aonuma was asked where exactly this latest game would fall in the series’ chronology.

Here’s a look at both the question and Aonuma’s response in full:

Waypoint: And where does this Zelda fit on the series’ timeline, in its chronology, split as that is into three separate yet connected branches?

Aonuma: I wouldn’t say that it obviously fits into any one part of the timeline, but if you play the game, you’ll be able to work out where it fits. As you probably saw in the trailer, the most recent trailer, there’s a woman’s voice, and she says: “The history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of the Calamity Ganon.” And as you know, the Zelda series, up until now, is a history of repeated attacks by Ganon. So, there’s food for thought there. I don’t want to say anything more as I’d like players to work it out for themselves, to play the game and see what they think.

So, EB Games had a promotion going, where any games you trade in towards the cost of a Switch console or game preorder would have double the value. So I traded in Black Ops 3, Captain Toad and Mario Kart 8, and it worked out to a $106 trade-in value. I put it towards a pre-order for Breath of the Wild, which is now paid off in full with $26 left over. I plan to put the remainder towards Splatoon 2.

Pretty good for two games I barely played and didn't particularly enjoy (Blops 3 and Captain Toad) and a third that I've done everything I possibly can in (MK8).

That's a good deal on trade. The only deal GameStop had was extra credit for any console you traded. I got $30 extra on my Wii and $30 extra on my 3DS. Got the Switch and Zelda Special Edition paid in full.

Aonuma didn't actually answer the question at all in that interview. So we still have nothing but speculation.
Your absolutely right. He went around in circles with that . Sadly. And it felt more like he was saying play the game to find out. That's what I got out of it. I still rather get from the makers regardless.

He just wasn't in the mood i guess.

I took out some certain images if you want to see them they are in the article it's self

Japanese video game development studio Monolith Soft has been confirmed to have a hand in the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Monolith had also had a part in developing Skyward Sword, and now producer Eiji Aonuma has gone into a little more detail about the studio’s role in Breath of the Wild. [Thanks, NintendoEverything.]

In a recent interview with Gamekult, Aonuma explained that, while Monolith assisted with graphics design and other elements in Skyward Sword, their role in Breath of the Wild was focused on topographic arrangements for the game’s vast open world.

Here’s Aonuma’s full comment about Monolith’s involvement:
“On Skyward Sword, Monolith had mainly helped us on graphics design and other artistic elements. Even though we could have asked them for help on the technical side, we realized their way of making games was completely different from ours and we didn’t have much to learn from them on this installment, since we were almost doing two different jobs. On the other hand, for Breath of the Wild, we’ve been assisted by level designers used to large game areas, in order to make topographic arrangements.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release for the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch on March 3rd, 2017.

Aonuma didn't actually answer the question at all in that interview. So we still have nothing but speculation.

Actually if they specifically said Ganon, that could mean it's in the Hero is defeated timeline.

According to Hyrule Historia that includes in this order

ALttP
Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda
Adventure of Link

Where it falls among these is the question. Probably late in the timeline or after Adventure of Link given they imply Ganon shows up repeatedly.

Edit: After Watching the trailers though I'm seeing something that looks like the temple from Skyward Sword so who knows.

I'm still hyped for it, my first console Zelda since the Gamecube. That said Boogie brings up a few good points. I'm starting to worry my expectations might be too high due to being hyped.

There are few things I hate more on youtube than "will it suck?" videos, clickbait title leading to videos based on nothing but speculation.

Not sure if you guys had seen this before, but a very well don fanmade Majora's mask CGI short film.

Breath of the Wild’s “Pro” Mode Disables The Mini-Map And Temperature Meter From The HUD. February 7, 2017 . 8:30am

In Pro mode, elements such as the mini-map and the temperature meter disappear completely from the HUD, leaving players with nothing but Hearts visible.

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there is an option under the settings menu that allows players to switch the HUD between “Normal” and “Pro” mode. In a recent video from YouTuber Gehab, we get a look at how changing the HUD to Pro mode affects the game.

In Pro mode, elements such as the mini-map and the temperature gauge disappear completely from the HUD, leaving players with nothing but Hearts visible. This seems to be a good option for players out there who want to “declutter” their HUD. You can see what it looks like in action in the following video.
