Game Freak is falling for the same pratfalls that stagnated Zelda. Seriously wanted to battle Beast Lusamine.

The worst thing about GameFreak is they consistently add features each generation only to abandon them in later installments.

Finally got to Goron City after getting rhino humped by a few Guardians. The fire proof armor was a pain to get, but I'm glad I did the little quest for it.
What quest did you do in order to get it? I bought some elixir, made it into Goron City, and just bought the entire Flamebreaker armor set.

At first, I was having a hard time getting rupees, but I just mine a lot when I'm off exploring, and the rupees add up quick.

There's a traveler that you can talk to just before heading into Goron City and he'll ask for 10 Fireproof Lizards. If you turn them over he'll give you the Fireproof shirt. You still have to buy the helmet and pants, but saving 700 rupees or so on the shirt was nice.

so, much has been said about the open world and relative freedom you have as a player to explore and survive.

but what about the actual story and the characters? How are those aspects in particular?

And, without major spoilers, how important is Zelda as a character?

Does Zelda have a strong, frequent presence in the game? Or is she like some "damsels in distress" who barely have any screen time and are more an object to rescue/obtain?

I personally think this is the most engrossing story they'd done in a Zelda game. She's a definite presence throughout the game and isn't just hidden away unseen in the castle. Like I said, I really think this is the best story they've done so far. It's really good.

thanks. that's great to hear!!

The story is easily the best it's ever been. Loads of humor, character's have personality and yet this is easily the darkest Zelda since Majora's Mask.

It's also nice to see a game like this handle choice and consequence from a strict gameplay perspective rather than a narrative one via dialogue trees. Most of what happens in the game is technically optional, but it's going to be hard as balls if you decide to run straight to the end. You normally only see stuff like this in immersive sims like Deus Ex, Dishonored, Thief, System Shock and never on this large of a scale.

The way that the story plays out is super smart too. It is a great story, but I like how the pace is up to you. If you want to ignore the story completely, you can.

I have only beaten like 10 shirns so far and have not even gotten to a dungeon yet and I am already love this game best video game ever made and this just gets me even more excited to play have not had a lot of time because of like but I should get some time to play today and a lot of time to play tomorrow.

So I was listening to Nintendo Voice Chat(IGN podcast), and one of their writers who is making all of the guides and walkthroughs for their website was on, and he said he's put in around 150 hours of the game, and he checked to see how much of the game he's completed, and he's only at 15%, lol.

The consequences of an open world. :o

A massive open world. Haven't really played this week, as I've been sick, and wanted to keep my germs contained. Watched a few lets plays, and it is amazing the different paths people take once they are off the plateau. Hell, even on the plateau.

You guys, I LOVE lists...now that you popped the cork...can't...resist...posting.........

1 - Link's Awakening
2 - Breath of the Wild
3 - Wind Waker
4 - A Link to the Past
5 - Twilight Princess

You're not alone in putting Link's Awakening at the top, I can't quite put my finger on it but there is something special about that game. Never had a gameboy though, I played on emulator.

what order is everyone doing the dungeons in? I've read it is recommended to go Zora>Gerudo>Rito>Goron ... I did Zora already and i feel like that was mostly accidental as I was just exploring really lol

oh yeah and someone asked if they play the classic zelda theme at all... i just heard a bit of it in piano form when i found the memory at the kara bazaar in the gerudo area.

I did Zora first for the same reason as you. I just happened to bump into them. After that I did Ruto and Gerudo. Haven't done Goron yet. I'm kind of doing the dungeons organically as they come up with my exploration. I did Ruto after Zora because that's the neck of the woods I was exploring.

I did Zora then Goron. Haven't decided whice one I'm going to do next.

Anybody know if there's a way to rewatch recalled memories in the game? I'm collected them piecemeal and out of order--I'd love to see them all through in order when I get them all. But I haven't found a way to rewatch the ones I've collected so far.

I think you can rewatch them from the adventure log in the pause menu?

Ah, thanks. I kept trying to do it from the photo album itself.

I just got done with my first dungeon which was Zora have only beaten like 11 shrins so far and I think I have just gotten to my first shrin that I am going to have issues with. It is like 5 troches or something.

so how do Amiibos work in BOTW?

I see that some can spawn rare items.

does that mean you can keep using an Amiibo again and again until you get that rare item?

or are Amiibos a "one and done" deal?
