Damn, I knew this was going to happen, but I'm surprised I'm actually going to miss Carlos Beltran. :(

Ervin Santana pitched a no-no in Cleveland despite allowing an unearned run. Good for him, all three no-nos have been on the road this year.

Still don't understand how a run that scores on a wild pitch is "unearned?" If the pitcher made a **** pitch and a run scores, it's on him.

I hope Zack Wheeler becomes a good arm for the Mets in the near future.

I gotta say after seeing that Pirates replay about a bazillion times, I've changed my mind I think that the ump got it right. The throw beats the runner by a mile but with the slide and the catcher's really stupid swipe tag, I think he misses him. More importantly if there was replay I don't think it would have been overturned. There isn't conclusive evidence to overturn it. If you watch it in slow motion and really watch it; it looks like he completely misses the tag. I think the ump was right.

Furthermore, why hasn't the catcher been blasted yet for his awful defensive play. Bottom of the 19th, game on the line guy coming at you, he better be standing in front of the plate ready to take the hit not some wimpy swipe tag which he missed. I understand he was going to try and go for the double play but that isn't the right play in that situation. Get the out and let your pitcher finish them off.

Welcome to what I said 4 hours ago, buddy.

Edwin Jackson went to Toronto who was then flipped for Colby Rasmus. Kenny Williams never fails to make the trade market interesting, and the Jays got a good upside player for the coming years.

Wow. The Cardinals just made a horrible move. Getting rid of a guy like Rasmus for Jackson and spare parts just because La Russa hates him. That'll cost them heavily down the line.

Also, Ervin :word:.

does Fangraphs agree with that no hitter? or are they going to break it down and tell us all what it really was?

According to La Russa, he made it somewhat evident that Rasmus wasn't listening to anyone on the coaching staff. But when TLR puts a bulleye on your forehead, there's no turning back.

and what was it:huh:

I don't know...Im waiting for Fangraphs to tell me

(Im actually just joking)

wow...that was smarmier and more self important than I conceived

but I appreciate it, Kingfish

I think it's funny that fans harp on other fans for goofing around with advanced stats even though plenty of front offices do the same, possibly even your favorite team!

my team just got rid of the last piece of dead weight from the Minaya era...if they want to divine stats with chicken guts, I really don't care

Well look at what the Rays have done, they replaced ineffective businessmen with Wall Street people and blend statistical analysis with a strong scouting department. Does anyone think what they've done is a bad thing? No, at least while they're been contending. The same can be said for Theo in Boston, and he has a lot more money to work with.

Red Sox have 16 runs on 16 hits

Royals have 5 runs on 16 hits

lolol

Anyone have an insight into the pitcher the Mets got in the Beltran deal?

surprising how good an arm the mets got for a rental. it's really a great move. wheeler is a project; he's a raw talent with anywhere from 1.5-3 years before he reaches the majors. he's got a great fastball and a good curveball, but his command is spotty. his stuff is nasty though with strikeout stuff, but who knows how he'll turn out. he's got a lot of development ahead of him.

the trade makes sense for the giants as well, though. wheeler is a lot to give up, but to get a big bat that might help the giants repeat is worth it. they're in win-now mode (as they should be), and it makes total sense.

I think its a good move, because Giants have locked up their pitching for years now

MLB thought there was enough evidence to say the Ump was wrong

So if that's the case should this be the first tie in baseball?
