Pretty surprising since he's a Boras client and didn't go to free agency and instead took way less money than he probably could have gotten. But between that and wanting a full no-trade clause, pretty clear how badly Weaver wanted to stay an Angel.

Much like the Felix deal, sticking with your team for below market value.

I commend him for wanting to stay there....maybe he's comfortable and knows its not worth the stress to go elsewhere

That's the meltdown we're talking about? I assumed you were referencing a week ago in Toronto when he gave up 8 runs. You know, his actual meltdown.

Dan Uggla is in record books again--and maybe HOF--when his career is over?

Now the ONLY MLB 2B in HISTORY with 5 straight 30 homer seasons. Hit #30 tonight.

He's over thirty and not even to 200 homers. Also, his OBP is decidedly mediocre. He won't come close to the Hall.

career OBP .343. Ho hum average. Average as average as can be. Defense is still wretched, no way he last another 2 seasons at 2B.

thank goodness the dbacks have decided they might not want to win the division.

the giants, meanwhile, are hoping half their team can get healthy.

D-Back third basemen Sean Burroughs hits a home run giving AZ a 2-0 lead over Washington. He commands a healthy 50 OPS+ and -0.8 WAR. He hasn't homered at the big league level since 2005.

My reaction

English, motherf*****r....do you speak it??

OPS+ adjust for context neutral hitting, it's how you can compare Babe Ruth and Willie Mays even though they played in different eras, dummy. WAR is just a fancy way to say if someone is positively or negatively contributing to a team.

And if you watch Burroughs play, you know that without question he is one of the worst players in the league at the moment.
