Someday, they will make a movie about this 2011 Boston Red Sox, titled "The Big Collapse".

The great thing is that if they ever do make a movie this they don't have to alter anything to make it more dramatic. It's perfect as is.

As much fun as it was for me to see the Red Sox fall apart, it would be a mistake for them to not renew Francona. He does not deserve the blame for this one.

He's a top 5 coach in the league, if not the best coach in the league. They would be stupid not to renew his contract.

Never thought Francona was a great manager. Like Joe Torre, he was handed a franchise with unlimited resources, whcih means that as long as you're not a complete idiot, it should be difficult to screw it up. When those resources were not at their disposal (Torre in ATL, LA, STL, etc.) Tito in PHI, they didn't look nearly as good.

Looks like it's pretty official. SI is reporting that Francona and the Red Sox will be parting ways.

Reports out of Boston that pitchers not starting on their days off were drinking beer in the club house during games.

Which is ironic cause I was crushing beers so I could deal with watching the starting pitching the last 2 months.

Unfortunately Tito won't be back. Wether on the Sox part or his own. Telling sign at the press conf. yesterday was him actually coming out and talking about club house issues which was NEVER done before. He ALWAYS kept things behind closed doors.

Poor talent evaluation from a FA standpiont is more to blame that Tito. I'd have no problem with the Sox telling Theo he could go interview for the Cubs President/GM job. Sure he drafted pretty well and used those assets to make some decent trades, but he wasted a boat load of cash on FA that just couldn't handle the fish bowl that this market is.

Good Luck to the playoffs squads that are out there.

I can't say I'm crazy about Boston deciding to part ways with Tito. Yeah, they underperformed in September, but the man has proven success.

As for who I think will win it all, I'm going to say Philly. I think New York will end up beating Texas and going to the World Series in the ALCS but in the end, I think Philly's rotation is just too good to be beaten this year.

Ideally, I would love to see Tampa Bay vs Arizona, but it won't happen....probably.

That would suck but I'll take that if it means them winning it, not rooting for the Rays but I don't actively root against them.

why would Ramirez get a ring? He played all of what, 3 games? Pretty sure rings are up to the discretion of ownership and whomever they want to give them to.
