the big F*** You Cliff Lee gave to them just recently has taken some of the mystique away

Which will mean precisely diddly when the Yankees offer him 100 million dollars more than the next highest bidder.

is you next post going to have 50 million more added to it?

just curious :hehe:

The Yankee mystique is already gone because of how much turn over there is between players and teams. It was different when you had a majority of players staying with one team.

it definitely was this off season.....out of the 3 big free agents, 1 went to Philly and 2 went to their biggest rival

It has nothing to do with mystique though. Lee wanted to go to Philly. The Yankees were too busy with him to have serious discussion with Crawford and Boston offered an insane contract which he took. Adrian Gonzalez was a trade, not a free agent.

You would think that the team with the 200 million dollar payroll would actually look a little more intimidating then they do. Instead, somehow, they only have two reliable starters, one pitcher in their bullpen, and Nick Swisher as the cornerstone of their outfield.

All of which will mean precisely diddly when they offer Pujols 1 billion dollars more than the next highest bidder.:cwink:

no....the amount of money the Yankees will offer Pujols will be so obscene, so astronomical, that they will be forced to invent a new number to describe it

They can have the New York taxpayers vote on a name for it. They're the ones footing the bill after all.

I don't see Hamilton going anywhere....he's still an addict, he's admitted to it and has built an established support system for himself in Texas....if he goes to a new team, the chances of him falling off the wagon skyrocket

Wait what? He's still a drug addict:huh:

he's clean now, but he's admitted he's tempted every day, that in his mind he is still an addict

at a guess, since Carter doesn't have a SB ring, thats probably 100 percent accurate...Id also say that if he had won a SB, he'd be in already

The initial reason Carter wasn't a put in the HOF was because they wanted Jerry Rice to be the First, First ballot HOF WR. Steve Young confirmed this when he was doing some fan vote for the HOF. Since then however, I'd say humility has a huge role in it.

is the mlb thread for popular people only? lol you are so.......funny sometimes...and not even on purpose

I only remember the good posters, and occasionally the bad ones if they're downright terrible. A lot of other people only show up at various points during the season and don't stick around.

Suffice to say we don't have a lot of standard regulars here.

Its ok Caleb, Cyborg just likes to hold grudges. I guarantee that if I didnt make an appearance in this thread between now and April he would be calling me out for it..its all good though. "haterz gon hate" ;)

You have 145 posts in 3 years, it's easy not to remember someone who posts infrequently.

No hate.

Disappointed in the voting for Bagwell. Seems like this thing is turning into a witch hunt. It's gotten to this point:

1. "Are there any allegations against this guy?" No.
2. "Any smoking gun evidence?" No.
3. "OK, what does he look like?" Muscular.

So much for innocent until proven guilty. I just wonder how much worse the witch hunt will get. Does a guy like Griffey get kept out on the first ballot simply because he was a slugger who played at the same time as Bonds, McGwire, et al? Griffey passes the test on the three questions I posted above, yet somehow you wonder if people will take the witch hunt tactics even further. Guilt by association so to speak. Just by being a power hitter in the steroid era, a person is tainted.

Yeah, I don't like how the voters treated Bagwell with "guilty by association." He clearly is one of the best power hitting first basemen of all time.

And most of his career was spent hitting homers in the strongest pitcher's park in the entire MLB. The Dome was a pain in the butt for sluggers. I do remember witnessing McGwire crush one during his record-setting season. My dad and I had good seats in left field but the *****e hit it into the deck above us. :hehe: Of course, we all know he was cheating his tail off. But the point still remains about Bagwell's career and the lack of evidence against him.

Bagwell's '94 season is notably amazing in the Astrodome. I still think he gets lost in the shuffle of so many sluggers in that era. That's still not an excuse for the voters not to recognize his achievements.

Uh, to be perfectly honest, if you hadn't posted again I wouldn't have remembered you either. You really didn't post that much and you don't have a snazzy avatar that can be instantly recalled. No hate involved.

Let's see, I remember GreenLantern constantly saying "Oh, I guess the Rangers can win on the road after all" after a win (even if they'd just gone 1-6 on the road that week) and Caleb for repeatedly trying to explain the claw/antler stuff.

Was it just the three of you?

only repetitive due to people saying over and over "i dont get it...please explain it" so id give a brief history every couple of pages :oldrazz:

I've read your explanations and I still don't get it.
