I don't dislike him necessarily, but I don't really see why everybody RAVES about him.

First he said 2 years/19 million, which he then crossed out and fixed to 1 year/9 million with a 9 million option for next year that the Angels will buy out for 1 million. Except that is also wrong since it's a vesting option that will almost certainly kick in unless Abreu is injured or benched.

Maybe it's a little thing to pick on, but since he took the time to correct his first mistake, you'd think he would get it right the second.

One reason why I enjoy his work is that he fuses his interest in advanced baseball stats and human interest so there's also heart.

I thought he made the point to show that Abreu has 1 year, 9 million left on said 2-year deal, with an option for 2012? I don't know if that's right or not.

He made the point but he also says it's far likelier that the Angels use their 1 million dollar buyout. However, that's not correct since they'll never get the chance because it's a vesting option. It hits with 433 plate appearances so unless Abreu is injured or benched, it's a buyout that they can't use.

White Sox gave Alexi Ramirez a 4-year extension. Probably a good deal.

He's better than Jeter right now and getting paid significantly less. Say what you want about Kenny Williams, but if he wants to get something done, he gets it done.

Like acquiring Ken Griffey Jr for no apparent reason

I'm not saying all his decisions are good ones, but if he's set on it, he'll get it done.

Saw yesterday was Rob Neyer's last day at ESPN. That's a shame, he was actually one of the better baseball writers on staff there. Much better than the Yankee piss boy known as Buster Olney. Outside of Jayson Stark, there is now almost no need to watch or read anything baseball-related on that awful Network. But they did fire Joe Morgan, so they've got that going for them....

Completely agree about Kenny Williams, he gets stuff done. Not always the greatest moves, but he's not afraid to make a mistake. If he does screw something up, he's usually pretty quick to get it corrected.

So Kenny Williams is the George W Bush of MLB GM's other than the quick to correct part.

Can we just replace Tony Reagins with MLB: The Show?

I swear, one day we're going to find out that some GM made all his decisions in career mode on Madden or NBA 2K etc.

Did Kenny Williams ever invade Wrigley Field with the goal of overthrowing Jim Hendry without sufficient reasoning?

I'm surprised Thread Manager hasn't made a new thread for this.

At least it doesn't take a dump on your chest.

Yet.

just typing "thread manager" in a thread almost guarantees it'll come rape you in your sleep....

oh shhhh*t!
