Official '24' Season 5 Discussion Thread!

Imagine if a season started out in the middle of a gunfight. :o Which is where the middle of an hour start would work.

Or a car chase, whatever.

I've always thought they should start an episode at the hour mark (6 am, 7 pm, whatever) in the middle of something crazy. Not everything happens inside the confines of one hour (meaning 6 - 7 for example). Sometimes crazy **** only starts happening at 6:45. So I think it might be interesting if Day 6 started where Jack or Curtis or somebody was in the middle of a firefight, thwarting a minor terrorist threat.

Wikipedia
In season 1, Mason was the District Director of the Los Angeles division of the Counter Terrorist Unit, an agency of the federal government that seeks and hunts down terrorist groups. There is initial friction between him and Jack Bauer, because Bauer had recently blown the whistle on three CTU officials that he believed were taking bribes. Later in the season, Mason is suspected of being a mole but is cleared.

By season 2, Mason had become the Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles office, a step down from his position in the CTU regional office during season 1. As the closest available agent, he was sent to a suspected site of terrorist activity, where he came in close contact with weapons-grade plutonium, and was given less than a day to live by the doctor who examined him.

Due to the fact that Logan became President through the 25th Amendment and appointed Gardner as his Vice President, Gardner becomes President without ever having been elected as either Vice President or President

that's a pretty cool idea. it's cool cause they can play with it a little, gradually clueing us in to what's going on...

And Tony took charge at the end of Season 2 and was the head for most of Season 3. No two full seasons, true, but two seasons in a row.

Ok, the same person has never started a season as head of CTU twice. You people and your semantics.

Is it just me or are the 24 DVD's really expensive?

Theyre really expensive compared to other network shows, but cheap when compare to HBO show DVDs.

Anyone know how old Jack is in the universe of the series? Or how old was he at the start of season 1?

I think doing the math, I think season 5 takes place 7 years after season 1.

Ah, well I've already purchased and recieved mine.
It's a good bag

My only complaint would be the velcro seal, it's not very pick pocket proof

Want to catch up on Season 5?
FOX will air the entire season, 2 hours at a time.
Fridays 8/7c starting June 16th

For 17 hours worth of episodes, it seems pretty cheap considering what you pay for a 90 minute or even 3 hour DVD. Then add in the extras.

The Andrew Christian Catalog, which sells Jack's Man Purse, seems to be a bit cheaper than amazon.com.

I bought S1 of Smallville at Walmart for fifteen dollars. I went to Best Buy and S1 of 24 was 48.00.
It's five years old:down

24 only has about 2 more episodes than the standard tv show.
It's worth the cash, but it's expensive to own each season

I think it comes down to 24 being a lot more expensive to make than Smallville. I dont know but I aslo bought Smallville Season 1 and 2 for $15. Good deal.

I prefer what my local Fox does. every season they do a 24 hour marathon of the last season of 24, leading up to the new season premiere.

I almost managed to watch it fully last season, but I dozed off around episode 16. :(

What was 24 at Wal-Mart?

I've seen season one atleast $30 Canadian.

I don't buy the 24 DVDs for two reasons

1) There are very few episodes you can watch as stand alone episodes (I can do that with The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Monk, Scrubs...all DVDs I own).

2) It is in syndication on A&E.

Couldn't help myself. God, i love this face!

Here I got season 2 for $45 from a HMV. The next day it was back up to like, $60. Now at Wal-Mart it's like, $60 for season 1 and at HMV it's back down to $35.

But if they release god damn slim packs for season 5 I'm not buying that s**t for $80ish.

I've never seen them for less than $40, except on the day after Thanksgiving...then I found Seasons 1 and 3 for $20 a pop. :D

I found the Smallville sets for about $15 a pop too at ShopKo, but I think that was just a sale. As far as I know, they aren't that cheap anymore. At least not at ShopKo or Wal-Mart or Best Buy...

I don't think I've seen the boxsets ever be above $55 a piece, which for seven discs, and over 18 or 19 hours of television seems pretty reasonable to me. Anything below $30 seems a bit unreasonable since at some places you can find regular dvds as expensive as $25 a piece (not many places, but some). I believe I paid $35 for all my Simpsons boxsets, which is far less material (22 episodes, 22 minutes a piece). The new X-Files boxsets are even going for as high as $40 with pretty much no special features whatsoever, and cheap slim packs (I think the versions with special features go for as much as $100). All in all, for the amount of material included on the boxsets, it could be far worse (see the special edition X-Files boxsets).

Flipping through the channels and happened to see Greg Itzin (President Logan) on V.I.P. He was playing a Jerry Springer type character, this is way back from 1999. Did get a few laughs.

I saw him on an episode of Friends a while back. He had a goatee...I don't remember which episode it was from though.
