sooo...back to Armor...her power is essentially the same as Radius's then..or Dr. Reyes? Radius my dear people, was on the all new, all different, Alpha Flight along with his brother Flex.
i suppose so, but Armor has never annoyed me. all Reyes every did was whine and it got old.

The superstar team of Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi take the X-Men to the "Second Stage!"

"Messiah Complex" pulled the X-Men team together, "Divided We Stand" tore them apart. Now the X-Men are back to business -- with a new look, a new base of operations, and a mystery to solve that will take them into previously uncharted territory and test them to their core. It all starts on a spaceship hovering 300 hundred feet above the twisted wreckage of Chaparanga Beach. Its sole inhabitant: the mysterious Subject X. Five minutes -- just five minutes is all he needs, all he’s asking for.

Can the X-Men afford to give it to him?

Yikes. I remember the uncolored preview pages for that. Somehow, Bianchi's art is more tolerable when in black and white.

That said, the dialogue is looking good, other than Emma bringing up codenames in the field. It's not like she has one.

Her codename should just be Frost.......

That makes it sound like she has ice powers.

I always thought her codename (since it's pretty clear that she's no longer part of the Hellfire Club) should be White Diamond.

sounds good to me, but i dont mind her just being Emma. it sounds like she thinks codenames are pointless so i dont think she'd go for it.

Maybe they made up a codename for her since they mentioned it. It would be about time.

The panel of Emma in the last second pic, she looked awful (not to mention the other two women also didn't look too good themselves), and her gesture in the last just seemd weird, like she's overly excited or something.

Yeah, Bianchi's art does usually look much better in black and white. Even moreso when it's in washed halftones.

I'm opposed to Emma having a codename. Im fine with her not having one. It works for her character as it kind of seems beneath her in many ways, especially with the way she carries herself. I can picture her preferring to go by just her name.

Bianchi has some beautiful covers for AXM, but for some reason, his interiors arent as great

Yeah, I feel the same way, besides, everyone is content to just call her Emma anyway.

Exactly opposite to Casaday's work, eh? His interiors are usually better than his covers.

Well, today I was re-reading the Dangerous arc, and theres a panel when Danger is fighting the X-men that shows the information on her opponents, like when they're going to attack her and other information. And on top of them it shows their name, and all of them have their codenames as their name and Emma's simply says Frost so maybe that is her's. Probably not, but its a possibility.

But I agree she probably doesnt like or have a codename, I can imagine her saying codenames are the stupidest thing she's ever heard. :p

I dunno. I still think Bianchi's art looks great, even colored. But maybe it's just because his guys look all right. At least they do to me. :D

He definitely draws men far better than women, but he's not one of my favorite artists. I don't think he has a real grasp for the medium, honestly. I much preferred Cassady on the book, and wish someone closer to his sensibilities had replaced him. Oh well.

I agree the jump between the two artists is really big. But I think I can get used to Bianchi's art, if I look past the way he draws women's faces. :p I think part of why I dont like this art too much is because it looks too crammed with little details and it tries to be too realistic. I think for a comic, "simpler" art looks a lot better.

Ah, see, it's the little details I like. I like my art to be as photorealistic as possible. :)

Why do they always feel the need to give Emma white lipstick? Who the heck even wears that stuff? It looks like she's been doing something dirty with Scott

Don't get me wrong - I'm right there with you. I like Bianchi's art. I liked it during the Jeph Loeb Wolverine run, and I liked it on Astonishing. I was just saying it usually looks better in black and white, as evidenced by the variant issues they sold of the Wolverine run. But it's not bad colored, at all.

Wow, even Outcry didn't think of this first. :wow:

The pink color lipstick she went for a few issues in Uncanny was indeed a lot better, but white has been her distinctive color for so long I doubt that artists are going to change it.

So, no comments on this weeks issue huh?

I pretty much whizzed through it to be honest. Nothing to give me pause or take my time on.
The last issue took a good time to establish the new setup, explain what their role is now, and go into the case in some detail. This issue however, they just arrived, went up to the only airborne ship, had an impossible time fighting a bloke in a confined space when two of them have long range abilities (can't get a clear shot my arse Scott), then take their time to wander over to the wreckage while discussing the morality of killing in the name of protecting a species (little slanted world view there Scott) only to have the bloke wind up fine and pissed off.

And a little weird Hank was on the cover and not in one single panel of the issue wasn't it? Was that just to give a dose of Hank as he isn't deatured so we don't miss the furball too much or something?

I got lost in parts because of the layout and had to re-read parts again. Anyway this was OK nice that a bit of history was thrown in but as stated nothing much happened. I'm still going to stick with it, hell I manged the get it after delay after delay, a new team settling in is wee buns compared to this.

I think the ship was giving off some kind of field which affected the X-Men but that is only a guess.

The space was too confined for Storm to attack, but I got the impression Scott couldn't get a clear shot because the guy was standing behind the big glowy ghost box thing.

Ellis' issue-by-issue flow on this title is pretty bad. I have a feeling this will all read well when the story is finished, but it's not reading very well at all as monthly issues. It doesn't leave me eagerly waiting for next month, so much as it makes me think "where the hell is the next page?" If that makes sense.
