Im not sure yet about the title.. tis a little MEh so far, and still getting used to the writer, but then Astonishing was great when Whedon came in and then look how rubbish that got.

i have no problem with the writing so far. nothing spectacular has happened yet, but its not bad. i'm just really having a hard time LOOKING at it. the art is really hard to get passed.

The story is not bad so far. It just has not progressed into anything dynamic yet. It also has to compete against a rather stellar start with Uncanny X-Men #500. Uncanny has just had a better run recently than Astonishing has. But Astonishing may just be a slow starter. My only complaint is about the portrayal of Storm. Her costume is horrific (especially compared to her far more elegant look in Uncanny) and her characterization makes no sense based on her past. She seems so disinterested and submissive. I feel as though her presence on the team is absolutely worthless. I am only reading the new run on Astonishing, because Storm is involved (taking Colossus out of the team was a poor move), but if she is not shaped up soon, i'll just wind up passing on this title. Which is a shame, becuase I am also about to drop Hulk once they reveal who Red Hulk is (unless they try to drag it on for a year).

Personally I like #26, better than #25, even if I have to put up with Storm being on the team, who hurts my eyes and my thoughts, especially it's Bianchi who's drawing.

i like her being back on the x-team , but i wish she was leading her own team.
having her sit back with scott and emma leading is pointless.
she mind as well stayed in bp title and sit back a watch t'challa

Lol I totally agree. The clothes are really ugly. But it has to be Emma: the lipstick, the hair is definitely blond and if thats supposed to be a black person, then I laugh at the colorist. The clothes just plain dont make sense. The first thing I thought when I saw the cover was: "Why's Emma wearing western clothes with spikes?". :p

:huh::huh::huh:
Ummm....please explain this...anyone, because i just don't get it.

Why couldn't it be a 'black person'? Just HOW is a 'black person' supposed to be colored?

Or since she isn't charcoal with ony the whites of her eyes showing, nah, can't possibly be black?

Which will be FINE by me, because that's where she belongs now.
And of course she should sit back when Scott is leading (and Emma is not leading, she's only headmistress of the school), she's not the current leader of the X-Men, it will be disgusting if she tries to do anything else, like trying to seize power to herself or proving her alpha-ness.

Lay off, dude. We all know Storm is supposed to be dark-chocolaty, and that's the only black person we've been talking about.

ok i know emma is just there but out the group she the H.B.C. of the team.

Ororo dosn't need to seize power her rightful place among the x-men is to lead, im not saying she should overthrow scott in axm or anything

just saying she dosen't need scott approvel to start up her own team.
you forget storm dosen't take ***** from no one.

and i dont see why she can't lead her team while scott dose his own thing and rule wakanda all at the same time.
god logan is fu*king every were.

and why would it be disgusting?

Geez, I only meant that she doesnt look black at all so she couldnt be Storm. You're exaggerating what i said.

Or maybe Outcry's just fed up with the overall stupidity of people talking (read: complaining, or whining, or some other synonymous term) about that cover.

Well, the general decides which squad leads by who, not up to someone who thinks she takes no **** from anyone, so she can come and decide to pick a team for herself, because so she can prove her alpha-ness and fulfills her craving for the position of authority so much. If Cyclops wants to divide the X-Men into different squads and Storm becomes more than just a visitor then she will be assigned one to lead, that's for sure, but it's still not completely up to her.

I think it's disgusting because she (or the fans) always give me the impression that she likes power or thinks she's born with it, and the postion of authority/Goddessship always attract/tempt her.

In Ro's current position, she probably sees no need to start up her own squad. For one thing, she's officially part of Greymalkin Industries to oversee her husband's investment, not make another fulltime commitment to the X-Men.

The other thing is that the X-Men are structured differently than they have been in the past. Ro can't waltz in and assemble her own squad because, quite frankly, the X-Men don't appear to be using that team structure anymore. If Storm is going to go into the field as an X-man and not just a Wakandan diplomat/Fan4 affiliate, she's going to need to follow Scott's lead, and get his permission. This isn't a team of half a dozen superheroes, anymore. Storm isn't going to undermine Scott's leadership when he's taking responsibility for the world's remaining mutant population and their one embassy.

the thing that killed Whedon's run was the lateness. It actually read better when reading the issues back to back/

But it's more of Cassaday's fault than Whedon's about the lateness.

Spoons, I totally agree with that. Except for Whedons first arc, that was awesome, but Ellis is doing a great job so far.

This current story looks like it'll be more science-y (biology, genetics) than space-y and I like that.

i dont know where you got the impression that i want ororo to prove her alpha-ness to anyone or waltz right in and overthrow scott.
all i said was i'd like her to be leading her own team again.
i don't see what so disgusting about that.

i understand it a new age for the mutant population.
but ororo has built her own team before and struck away from the school and the main team. (x-trem x-men)

scott has his vision of saving the mutant race and that fine. but if ever storm had her own vision and it didn't aline with scott she's prob break away and do her own thing.
with or without the x-men help.
just like after M-Day.
and if any team members wanted to go along with her thats fine.

but i dont see "Ro" being a whiny ***** and thowing a lighting fit, and demanding that scott hand her over half of the squad just so she could be in charge.

well the i think the whole purpose the X-Men are organized the way they are now is Marvel wants Cyclops as the undisputed leader of the team- of the whole mutant race even. having Storm in control of her own team would again splinter the team/community.

I actually second the idea of Storm having her own team. I never liked the idea of two leaders on the same team.

Well....Cap should always be the leader of the Avengers, and everybody else (Jan, Clint, Wanda and Tony) should just fall in line.

I'd like to remind everyone that Archangel led an X-Men squad, Cannonball led the New Mutants, Nightcrawler led Excalibur, and Cable led X-Force. It doesn't stop them from falling in line and becoming just another teammate once in a while.
