I actually quite liked it. It's set up subject X to be completely unbeatable. Because he can move between realities, no matter how badly the X-Men beat him, or kill him, there will always be at least one reality that he survives in, thus negating him having been killed or beaten.

Basically, I like Ellis' idea of this Ghost Box story, gives off a different kind of vibe than other enemies the X-Men are facing in other titles right now.
I'm looking forward to #2 coming out.

The Ghost Box #2 was a good read, but very depressing imo, not something I'd want to indulge before work or bed.

too right, couldnt he have chosen some cheerier alternate realities to show us?

Especially it's Christmas time!

But that also means the 616 univere will have a somewhat brighter future cause we know 616 Cyclops is going to make the different decision.

But until I see the next issue, I'm still depressed.

But aren't those all different Subject Xs? I didn't read GB #2, but in #1 the first story had a Subject X who spearheaded an invasion, then went back to his home dimension. While the second story had a Subject X who got killed when the zeppelin blew up. So they were obviously different people.

I thought they were the same Subject X, but showing the results of his different possible decisions.

I interpreted Ghost Boxes as Ellis creating alternate endings to his current Astonishing arc, but releasing those alternate endings before the true ending, thereby showing us (the readers) exactly what's at stake if anyone screws up.

But the steampunk world was definitely a different reality from 616.

But that same issue showed a story with an outcome where he killed Cyclops, stopped the X-Men, and took over 616. But in the main Astonishing series (which is also 616), he attacked Wolverine (who lived) instead of Cyke, and he got killed before he could escape. Either we were shown an alternate ending, or the story I just recited from Ghost Boxes #1 happened in another universe that Subject X mistook for 616.

As for the Steampunk world, remember that after taking over 616, Subject X said he would've rather gone after a less technologically developed universe. The Steampunk story was an alternate ending for a story where Subject X had gone to that universe instead of 616.

"GHOST BOX," PART 4

Big action. Big Science. And a Big Mystery to solve! The superstar team of Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi take the X-Men on a mission that will take them into mind-bending and previously uncharted territory -- one that will test them -- and their leader Cyclops -- to their very core.

Bonus points for a page of Beast doing acrobatics.

That steampunk world rocked!! I want more of that.

I curious to see if Beast and his Superbrain crew will try tapping into the potential of using the alternate breed of mutants to reverse the effects of the Decimation

good to see its finally coming, just wish it didn't make me cringe to look at it.

Basically like what I read in the previews, #2 of Ghost Box is too depressing (good, but depressing), and I love it that it's Cyclops and Beast team up against Subject X, bringing in some of the old O5 feeling (sort of) and Beast has been the "I'm the guy with more brain cells than just about everyone else and use big words to prove it" for quite a while, it's good to see him use some action at long last, but I still hope Bianchi stops drawing characters with awkward model poses, and the backgroud is a little to complicated it becomes distracting.

well i should have elaborated more. i can't believe im looking at a picture of Storm by Bianchi and it's actually good.

you know. i dunno if i buy cat-beast doing ape-like stunts. if anything he should be moving, well, like a cat...nice to see him in action though

Are large apes like gorillas even known for acrobatic stunts?

If it wasn't for the headband /skin tone I'd say they look identical..the clothing too seems mirrored: Emma stole Ro's earrings..whitish colored, off shoulder, cape, bare midriff, collars?!!)It looks like EmRo's gonna start making out and tell Scott to get lost...

I hope this doesn't mean theyr going to be BFF's Kitty was a way better foil for Emma. Ro seems useless here as Cyke said(also vs. Empath)..I mean she's a match against emma but can't stop one of the original Hellions? not believable..
I'm glad to see Storm do something but it's going to take some getting used to seeing her with this crew..I kind of wish she was leader of her own team again....

was he based off of a gorilla tho? just cuz HE is huge doesnt mean its automatically a gorilla.

technically Storm stole those clothes from Emma. shes had that costume since Astonishing #1. all Bianchi did was give her top more of a corset look and stamp a giant X badge on her.
