Inc #8 looks cool. With all the different environments and characters that it takes place in it really does feel like a continuation of Brave and the Bold.

Detective Comics is looking solid, and I'm looking forward to reading Gates of Gotham.

Why is Tony Daniel still on the Batman book? Go away man, nobody likes you!

Not thrilled about Judd Winnick coming aboard B&R but I like this version of Jason Todd and I want to see more so...eh.

And I normally don't pick up Batgirl but with Squire making an appearance, I just may. It looks like fun.

Inc #8 looks like it will be as :awesome: as a possum really digging that comic book right now. And i expect Batman to ride a lightcycle and beat up villains while dancing like Adam West to DaftPunk

what did i say? predictable as the days of the week.

So much love talking about Batman comics isn't it?! <3

I did not care that it came out of nowhere I dug them being a couple and we saw how they got together in a flashback

And there was nothing to suggest either of them were heterosexual before OYL so Grace being Bi and Thunder being gay did not seem to come out of nowhere to me.

A flashback that still showed them hooking up out of nowhere. Also, Grace was pretty damn heterosexual before OYL with her constantly hooking up with men such as Green Arrow and Arsenal with nothing suggesting that she was into women as well. And there was nothing that suggested that Thunder was gay.

IMO, for any relationship to work, you need actual build up (like April and Andy in Parks & Recreation) or have them as an already established couple right from the get go (like Cameron and Mitchell in Modern Family). Having a relationship come out of nowhere is just sloppy writing. Especially since this was at a time where everything that Winick touched had to deal with either homosexuality or AIDS.

I had no problem with the majority of Winnick's comics featuring gay bi or lesbian characters

I want more lgbt characters in comic books. Winnick wrote some good ones in Outsiders and Exiles and wrote entertaining comics so I dig him

Never assumed Grace or Thunder to be straight either. And thought they made a good couple so I dug that

Eh, I just hate electronic music, and acts who wear masks. That has nothing to do with the music, just a peeve.

Why do you not like electronic music HighFivingMF

I don't see anything remotely appealing about it. I'm not sure why people do like it. But whatever, I avoid clubs and it isn't in my comics :-)oldrazz:), so it's all good.

Fair enough

But Batman should have a BatLightcycle

I have no problem with LGBT characters either, but when it became the sole focus of Winick's writing, the man became a parody of himself. There are other prevalent progressive social issues to write about besides just gays and AIDS.

Now that he is actually writing beyond just those two topics, his comics have become good again. I'd like to see him tackle more social issues because the first couple of times he wrote about homosexuality and AIDS, he did a good job. The problem only comes when he just drives it into the ground and beats it like a dead horse.

Considering that Grace was stated to have been with a lot of men, there was nothing at all to suggest that she preferred women and it's the natural thing to do to assume that she was heterosexual. And again, there was nothing at all that suggested that Thunder was into women (hell, I'm pretty sure that they said that Grace was the first woman she was ever with), so again, it's only natural to assume that she was heterosexual.

Now there is nothing wrong with the fact that these characters happen to be homosexual. But they should have put in some suggestions that they were lesbians or at least leaning that way, and build up the relationship between the two. Relationships in comics, movies, TV, etc. are terrible when they have no build up or any suggestion that there is something between the two.

I assumed she was bi
Why? Because there was nothing at all that suggested that Grace was bi-sexual. As a matter in fact, everything pointed to Grace being the complete opposite of lesbian/bi-sexual. She was practically a female Arsenal.

And there was nothing that suggested that Thunder was gay. Hell, even in the Outsiders Annual which explained how they got together came off as she just became gay out of nowhere. And Outsiders pre-OYL made Grace and Thunder seem like oil and vinegar, with Thunder being rather disgusted with Grace's attitude and absurd levels of promiscuity.

Might check it out but did not really dig the new Azrael series

Still it might be neat

I am much more interested in the Arkham City prequel comic Dini is a fab writer and i am eager to read that tie in :atp:

Well like I said I am happy with it being the focus of his work :)

I want more well written lgbt comic book characters. Winnick writes good lgbt comic book characters in my opinion

I personally enjoy seeing Winick expand his horizons. While I myself am not progressive, I really enjoy seeing other political viewpoints as long as they don't directly insult mine. And Winick is pretty good at showing off progressive viewpoints, as long as he doesn't beat a particular issue like a dead horse.

I think that we do need more well written LGBT characters because Scandal Savage, Batwoman, pre-Question Renee Montoya, Hulkling, and Wiccan are not enough. But this is a tricky issue that also plagues minority characters as well.

Having a minority or LGBT character just for the sake of having a minority or LGBT character doesn't work because in the end, characters that exist just for the sake of diversity just don't thrive. They are instead treated as token, throw away characters. And you also have to take into account that most comic book writers are not homosexual like Marc Andreyko and Alan Heinberg or have the mindset of Gail Simone, Judd Winick, and Greg Rucka; most comic book writers are white, male, heterosexual, Judeo-Christians and even when they try to be progressive in writing minority or LGBT characters, they tend to fail because they still have that white, male, heterosexual, Judeo-Christian mindset in the way.

Winnick writes good lgbt comic book characters in my opinion
Winick writes good LGBT characters half the time, when he's not beating the issue into our minds.

I find Gail Simone, Greg Rucka, Marc Andreyko, and Alan Heinberg to be far superior at it.

I'm an atheist, but that doesn't mean that all atheist comic book characters are awesome. That's because even though I may share the same faith as characters such as Mr. Terrific, I am a completely different person than Mr. Terrific. As a matter in fact, I'm not a fan of Mr. Terrific because I find his atheism to be a complete and total hindrance on the character because his atheism is written more along the lines of "I'm angry at god" as opposed to genuine atheism, and I find that being an atheist in a comic book universe populated by various gods that have been proven to exist, to be a bit absurd.

For me, I simply read comics because I enjoy reading about superheroes. It doesn't matter if they are like me (like sharing Hank Pym's confidence problems or being nerdy like Peter Parker) or the complete opposite of me (the perfect man like Bruce Wayne or someone like Deadpool). I enjoy them because they're good characters.

That is fair enough

It does matter to me. I prefer comic books that feature well written gay bi lesbian or trans characters

That is how I feel and that is what i enjoy reading about in comics. And that is what I want to see more of.

Does not matter to me why such characters are created. As long as there positive and well written. And i feel that while Winnick is nowhere near as good as Rucka Simone or Andreyko he has still written some pretty neat ones and that makes me :)

Forgive me for saying this but perhaps you would be more interested in some other medium like tv series, movies, books, or anything else that deals with the issue of homosexuality, relationships or both.

It seems to me that you re only interested in a comic book if lgtb characters are involved. You yourself said that you wouldnt mind if Superman, the first and most iconic superhero stopped getting printed but you would be devastated if anything happened to your lgtb characters. Hell, you re not even discussing plot points or character development because if some characters are gay they re :awesome: like a possum.

So if you re just interested in lgbt characters, why are you searching for them in cape comics? Its like women watching football because some players are hot. If you re looking for hot men, just open your pc and google "hot men". The primary goal of cape comics isnt romance or social messages even though they are there as well.

This! I am not like Bruce, Dick, Damian or Bucky either, but hell if i dont love Batman comics or Brubaker's Cap run.

You have proven that you dont care about that. If those two love birds suddenly became evil you would be furious, but they suddenly became gay and that makes it alright by you. Hell you wouldnt even care about them if they werent gay. So its not about the characters its about their sexual preferences.

I mean i find Damian awesome because i enjoy glorious bastards like him or House. I couldnt care less about his sexuality because that's not a character trait. Cape comics arent romantic novels anyway so they barely dedicate any panels to romance.

Not true

I dig some comic books that do not feature lgbt characters as well as ones that do

So if you re just interested in lgbt characters, why are you searching for them in cape comics?

Because I :hrt: superhero comic books they are fun and exciting and enjoyable to me

Its not unreasonable to want more lgbt characters in them. There are straight superheroes i loves with so much love like Knight and Squire and Superman

But i do not want them all to be straight white males. And i enjoy and prefer reading about heroes who are lgbt in my comic books

That's all I have to say about this. Now lets talk about Batman comic books

Show of hands who wants the next DC dtv to be Batman: Odyssey :awesome:
