Beware the Batman
A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a “Batman show.” Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA’s Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond’s Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’s Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!

Seems to me they're taking inspiration from Doug Moench, Alan Grant, Chuck Dixon & Grant Morrison. Feels Super, Man. :)

Don't know why they aren't using Cassette Cain instead of the less cool Katana.
I may watch this only to see how they handle a character like Pyg. (they better keep his speech patterns intact.)

I demand an animated Version of Morrison's Batman and Robin :o

I hope Pyg will be as crazy and unsettling as he is in the comic books :awesome:

every batman series since TAS has just felt like it was trying very hard to not be TAS

not to say I don't enjoy them

After the ending of Secret Six, I was really hoping to see Bane return with a bang to the batbooks--in an a big story by a solid writer. Instead we get Bane: the man who yells and nothing else.

Lame.

That's a shame. Bane is really one of the few characters who survived being a product of the early 90's and actually became something incredibly interesting. (Unlike say, Anarky, who could very easily, but more on that later). Bane has to deal with, for the rest of his life, the fact that he peaked way too early. His grand gesture of defeating and breaking the Batman was shortlived, and he has nowhere else to go from there. Rather than being swept away, his story of finding purpose is incredibly interesting. He betters himself, sobers up, and moves on. And has a decent arc with Hourman.

For Anarky, how are they not doing a story where all the teenagers in Gotham are running around in Anarky masks, doing Occupy Gotham movements, and just stirring the ****, a la Anonymous. Anarky moves away from being a somewhat lame 90's character, into an idea and movement. You could even do a hacking storyline featuring Barbara Gordon. I have some notes scribbled down about this somewhere. Expect a slashfic in the future.

It sounds like Clancy Brown as Lex in the Lego Batman 2 trailer... but not Mark Hamill as The Joker. :csad:

I wonder if they got Kevin Conroy?

It's because they're racist against child assassins. :argh:

they shoulda did a full on Batman and the Outsiders.

Typically they do not. They just sort of grunt and stuff. Like a Zelda game.

I cannot wait to play that new lego Batman game it looks so fun :atp:

Lame.

He had absolutely zero personality here. Did he even have a reason for doing any of this? Was it just to try and break Batman again

And all his character development and complexity is gone. Now he just yells and punches stuff :(

I would totally watch that

Especially if we got animated Looker. Hawt vampire redheads make me happy :)

Unless they don't have a vag (Damian).

I really do miss seeing Cass around though :csad:

For christ sake my screen handle was influenced by my admiration of the twisted David Cain and his ultra awesome daughter. I hope Morrison ends up using her during the conclusion to his epic run this summer.

She's been around in an inoffensive capacity lately as Black Bat. Terrible name and boring costume, but at least she hasn't murdered anyone or fallen back on daddy issues she already got past.

Yeah I know; I own and read those comics. But we haven't seen her since last summer. I think her return by this point is overdue.

I like the name Black Bat. It makes her sound like some old pulp hero. :o

Why does it have to?

I just like the sound of it. Not everything has to be a homage.
