I don't care if you people treat me like a leper, Death and Maidens was a good story. :o

That's just because my nose fell off into the punch that one new years eve. :o

She's had a healthy sexual relationship with Dick

Don't most women? :wow:

On a serious note: Why have so many of the Batman books become boring and ulta-violent? Every cover and preview I've seen lately has a Bat-Family member caked in blood against a rogue who's up to the same old shtick as before.

Because they don't have the same creative inspiration as Morrison, which is a shame really. However Red Hood & the Outlaws does have the international vibe to it, but not the crazy over the top style of Morrison.

Snyder's doing as good a job as Morrison ever did on Batman, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not as high-concept, but you don't necessarily need high concepts to make good comics.

I'm enjoying it almost as much, but the samey quality of his 3 bat stories so far worries me. I'll be impressed if he can pull off a longform story without continuing to 'reveal things we never knew about the past!' He could also go easy on the anecdotes in the narration.

His characterization of bruce also seems like a bit of a step backwards after morrison's run.

Agreed. I like Scott Snyder a bit more than Morrison. Actually a lot more. I prefer his writing style more, without the "high concepts" as you called them.

Personally, my ideal Batman story is something like Hush or Red Hood The Lost Days (off the top of my head). You get inside your main character's head and there's some emotional involvement going on. Good action too of course, as long as it's more logical than not, if that makes sense.

They're two totally different writing styles. Both of which I appreciate in their own way.

Personally, I think Synder's one big failing of his Batman work is I really don't think he's very well defined or explored Bruce Wayne or Batman as a character. Everything's very plot and conceptually driven.

To be fair, Batman's got 70 plus years of character definition. Anything else is just unnecessary additions.

Though finding out that Bats really, really, really loves Starbursts would be cool.

starbursts would make him fat and ruin his war on crime

bats hates starbursts

Silly Wabbit, Batman can eat whatever he wants and never gain a pound thanks to this 2 hour class he took at the learning Annex. :o

That's not exactly what I mean.

I don't need him to REdefine Bruce, I'd just like he 70yo personality explored some more.

Right now, Synder could have written a very similar story with Dick in Bruce's place.

Snyder actually did a much better job at defining Dick than Bruce I feel...

I loved Snyder's Dick.

Again, what more is there to be explored?
It's merely about showcasing Bruce's personality.

It'd be like, if I was writing a story about you, and I didn't mention your love of trannies at all. I mean, yeah, it would still be about you, but loving trannies is what makes you special.

And the same can be said for Bruce. Only without the trannies.

but isn't court of owls centered around bruce's taking for granted that gotham is an ally

that's part of his character

Ugh, you're not getting it.

I would - preferably - just want more scenes of Bruce/Batman actually talking, interacting, etc. with other characters. It's not about some great philosophical or psychological investigation of his character. It's just about being able to observe his personality.

And it's not even THAT big of a deal...I'm just saying its something Sydner isn't really showcasing.

Don't most women? :wow:

Not most of the women I know :ninja:

Batwoman and Batman are both pretty amazing right now I would definitely recommend checking both of those series out

They're two of the best that DC is publishing :)

Are you suggesting that Bruce doesn't love them

Because that's simply not true :nono:

I've been digging his run on the book so far

I wish Scott Snyder would use some of the more traditional rogues, Riddler or Two-face or something.Maybe have them team up and try and steal the intellect of all the people of Gotham :o

I'm finding the Court of Owls really refreshing, personally. Batman's got one of the greatest rogues galleries in comics, but they're also one of the most overused rogues galleries in comics. It's nice to see someone branching out and creating new villains. I think that's part of why Morrison's run has been so good as well. Professor Pyg, Scarlet, etc. All cool new additions to the rogues gallery rather than retreads of half the Killer Croc or Joker stories you've already read.
