No, Steve from CountingDown.com who backed up Spider-Man2029 saying what he heard was right. He heard from 3 sources. They gave him a specific answer as to when the announcement was coming/planned. He has a great track record, along with Spider-Man2029, who goes by Ice Man on CountingDown.com, and is very credible. Now let's way and see what they officially announce this weekend, shall we.

Did anybody really expect a "big official announcement" on the weekend? Studios rarely if ever, make an official announcement on the weekend.

It must be easy being a big studio insider. You just say "news is coming soon", whether it be on a "weekend", "10 days", "3-4 months", or "after Thanksgiving", as long as it comes you can say "See we told you!".

You don't have to reveal what the news is, that way when any news breaks, you can just blubber, "Yeah! That is what I was talking about."

Here's some more breaking news. WB/DC will have an announcement related to a new Batman film. No idea when. Could be a a couple months. Could be next year. You'll see. I'll show you.

Now on to the topic of the thread.

As Jamie mentioned, whether or not Rachel McAdams gets the role or not, I'm sure they've auditioned a good amount of actresses to cover their bases.

There was never going to be any kind of big announcement this weekend. Studios wouldn't make an official announcement over the weekend, especially of that magnitude.

If the producers really did meet with Rachel McAdams for Black Cat, It's safe to say that they have a short list of known actresses that they want.

Take Iron Man 2 for instance. Emily Blunt was the frontrunner for the role, but after she had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, Scarlett Johansson was next in line for the role.

There's also the possibility that Romola Garai tested for another role (a smaller, less significant role).

I really like McAdams though and I could definitely see her as Felicia Hardy.

Late last week, reports spread across dozens of Internet sites claiming that actress Rachel McAdams has been cast to play a villain named the Black Cat in the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise. If your spider senses got all tingly at the idea — well, sorry, but according to McAdams, it’s simply untrue. “That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” the actress, who will next be seen in the Dec. 25 action-adventure tentpole Sherlock Holmes, tells EW. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4.‘ And I said, ‘Really? No one told me!’ It’s not true.” A rep for Sony Pictures concurs: “It’s an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days.”
