First Avenger OFFICIAL: Chris Evans is Captain America

I seriously doubt that he's going to do a poor job but if I feel he does a mediocre job I will express my truthful opinion.

I wasn't impressed with Norton in TIH and I expressed as much.

I have been disappointed with Bale as Batman (especially in TDK. And no it had nothing to do with the Joker stealing the spotlight as Mr. J is always supposed to steal the spotlight anyhow) and I expressed as much.

I thought that Brandon Routh was lame and charismaless as the Man of Steel and I expressed as much.

I never hold back or sugarcoat my opinions of a film or performance, no matter what I expected of the actor.

I expect Chris Evans to do a pretty damn good job as Captain America but if he doesn't IMHO, I will say so.

Out of curiosity, what's your opinion on Maguire as spidey?

Great news! I think Evans will do a marvelous job. He definitely has the enthusiasm and commitment. I'm just surprised that the news of his casting isn't quite the big deal I at least expected it to be. Just seems like any old, "by the way" news.

Well Marvel hasn't actually done a press relase or anything yet, so i'm sure when they do that (tomorrow or the day after probably) they'll make a nice big deal of it. Or maybe they're waiting until everything is signed before they announce anything.

It's like a dream, isnt it? Hopefully, the Cap board will calm down a bit now and we can engage in decent discussion about the movie. [although just flicking through some pages, there are one or two who have said this movie will bomb because Evans has been cast. ]

I've just realised that we're actually going to have an actor playing Cap who has a really good build already [and can only add more quality muscle to his frame), as opposed to an actor with so-so genetics who'll require movie tricks to make him look decent.

Just read the news. I think the producers should've gone with another actor, since Evans is already known as Human Torch. Some viewers will be confused. IMO, it was lazy casting.

I think it's because it's just "ho hum" casting. Or, as others have put it "safe." It's not really that inspired. I've mentioned Evans' casting to people who would be considered the "general audience" as well as comic book fans, and they were pretty underwhelmed.

I think they should have gone with an unknown. I mean, Chris Evans is already Human Torch, and he was awesome at it. It is a lazy casting choice. For me, Captain America is the Superman of Marvel comics, he represents the "American Way". So, for me, if Chris Evans is not a good Superman choice, than he is definately not a good choice for CAPTAIN AMERICA

You can't have it both ways. Krasinski would've blown everybody away and send the fanboys into a frenzy. Everybody responded positively to Chris Evans ever since his name came up and now feel underwhelmed that they actually cast him. They probably can't even afford to book an actor to draw in massive audiences. In fact, when you're in your 20's, you don't even have that kind of box office love since you're inexperienced.

What's with these people - can't they do some work and cast somebody who hasn't played a hero recently. First it was Green Lantern and now Cap. Absurd.

Again, what's the matter with actors playing multiple superheroes? Really, if they can't a suitable newbie or up-and-comer to play the role, then why not get an actor who's had experience doing it before?

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be eating their words next June and July, when GL and CA comes out.

I am satisifed with this. Apparently they're going with the "F4 was an alternate universe" type deal with him being cast here, so whatever. I know he'll have fun with the role. It'll be similar to Downey getting Stark.

Still know I saw a pic of Evans somewhere in that monster 10k thread where he had long hair and someone photoshopped it dirty blonde. He looked just like Cap. If thats what we get with this movie then things are going to be ok. (at least looks-wise)
