And that's what makes me nervous with Evans. This isn't a guy who has exactly shown a great understanding of the craft or even particular skill in it. Without a strong director...he may very well suck ass, and as you said, Cap is the most important casting choice. He is the linchpin of Marvel's ambitious plan to launch all these heroes and do an Avengers blockbuster. If Evans sucks, it all goes up in smoke.

Don't forget though man, that for this very reason we can assume Marvel haven't cast lightly. They know how important this is, and we know how hands on they've been with IM and TIH, so if you don't complete faith in Johnston, have faith in Marvel.

Just think what Stan Lee would say if he knew his True Believers weren't truly believing :P

Thinking on, I guess by some peoples rationale, an actor who's been in Hamlet cant be the lead in Macbeth.

correct me if im wrong, but did Evans not screen test?

They wouldnt have if there had been an internet in their day. You just know that Universal wouldve been sent a petition by hardcore, anal fans.

Some people are just going to find reasons to not like this movie right up until his release... Even once we've seen a trailer, and seen what Evans is like as Cap, there will be people saying its going to bomb for whatever reason. Personally, i'm really pumped. Now that we have a Cap, it feels like the whole project has an anchor and I can't wait for this movie to come out. Seeing Captain America on screen to me is like the epitome of Marvel comics being brought to life. He just seems like a character that is so firmly cemented within the medium of comics, that it's going to be awesome, in the true sense of the word.

Pretty sure it was the film with a ridiculous plot, but that aside, one of the cheeziest twists in the end that completely through me out of the movie, but most of the actors didn't bother me. I still laughed at most of Evans scenes. I am a big space epic guy, but unless it's Trek or Star Wars, I prefer the low budget features to be as grounded and as plausible as possible, unless of course it's trying to be Wars or Trek, which many space epics fail to do (ala Lost in Space). Something like Moon is right up my alley. I tend to pass on The Cores, Supernovas, Event Horizons, Red Planets. Sunshine was a little more respectable, but not nearly enough.

Sunshine was pretty grounded in Science as far as Sci-Fi movies go. Scientific advisers from Nasa including astrophysicists were actively consulted during the making of the movie.

If true believers dont believe Stan Lee dies and has to go to a fate worst than hell...he has to work as DC

This casting sucks, greedy to play more than one character in the marvel universe

Hungry Hungry Evans. Me Want Food!

The only ones that care are fanboys. The media may play up that he took on the role of Torch a while back, but most mainstream people won't care. A lot of older people that grew up with Cap from like the 40's era will be happy to see him on screen.

My brother from another mother! Either that, or one of us is a Ben Reilly style clone :D

Evans"It is my goal to play every superhero out there...now to show up at the Wonder Woman casting."

Reynolds and Evans should do a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle movie together

Or, would that be too selfish?

I understand your concerns. I think most people are relieved more than anything that we have a guy who is at least acceptable compared to what was on the original shortlist. If you'd asked me before the casting process started I would have probably been more ambitious but given the circumstances I think we've landed on our feet & there is still a reasonable chance of success. Now that we have our man, got to look forward..just hope he looks/sounds/feels good as Cap & that the script rumours aren't completely correct or that it is improved before they shoot.
