First Avenger OFFICIAL: Chris Evans is Captain America

watching Sunshine last night reaffirmed my opinion that he'll do a fine job as Captain America. he was basically the Captain America of that movie.

No. He was strictly Mace. The Sentinel of Liberty ideals were nowhere near that movie.

Fifty seven pages ALREADY?

Oh, and I googled Evans, and I found this:

If that is actually Evans, then I am totally perfect with him as Cap.

which is why i said that he was BASICALLY the Cap-Am of THAT movie. he didn't show any patriotism or anything, but he showed that he can convincingly act in a non-yielding leadership role.

Chris Evans was the only thing good in all the Fantastic Four movies. From the first time you see him, you just know he totally "got" what the character was about. I have every expectation that he will also totally "get" the character of Captain America as well.

Bravo on casting.

Please do so. It has become the Holy Bible of why Evans should be Cap on this forum.

We bring up Sunshine for the purpose of some people here who can only see comedic Chris Evans and have not seen him spread his wings as an Actor.

So case in point sunshine proves he can be a serious. His character was a Leader, dedicated, determined, self sacrificing, and flush with resolve he also had a military background.

these are traits in Steve Rogers

Except that playing a goofball seems to come more natural to him, than the leader of men. Of course I've yet to see Sunshine.

The character was "supposed" to be all those things. Some of us who watched it saw nothing, but a handcuffed Chris Evans dying inside utter some wise-cracks. :awesome: haha j/k

No, but seriously, I often wonder what the litmus is. He just came off "serious" to me. Nothing more, nothing less. His look clashes with his persona for me. He's got a very boyish look still. When you have a leadership role, this can be problematic for some.

I agree with this statement. Some argue he's being type-casted, but I feel as though the goofball is by far the best part he plays. He's an average-to-decent actor when he plays serious roles, but it's certainly not his bread and butter.

Ridiculous...simply ridiculous.

Next stop, Ryan Reynolds for Matt Murdock; Robert Downey Jr for Dr. Strange; Chris Evans for Black Panther (he´s black....who cares).....
Well, let´s make every Marvel movie with the same 4 or 5 actors....

Better yet, let´s make a Funtastic Four/ Captain America movie....

here's a snippet from Sunshine, SPOILER ALERT & ADULT LANGUAGE!!! it's not the most emotional scene in the movie, but you can get a sense of what Chris is like when he's trying to be serious and leader-like...

When I stop and think about it, RDJ would actually look kinda nice as Dr. Strange. Not the type of character Downey would do, but he'd look pretty good as it.

And guys, come on. It's not like Evans is trying out for five different heroes. He's just being Cap. If Marvel thought him being in FF was an issue, they wouldn't ask him, would they? Besides, FOX did FF. Marvel's doing Cap. Two different companies.

The Chris Evans is Captain America thread obligatory posts:

1) He was already the Human Torch. When I see him all I see is the Human Torch.
2)I watched Sunshine and he played a serious role. I can see him as Cap

One of my students had a Captain America action figure with him in school today. I was happy to tell him that a Captain America movie is in the works.

This argument is going in circles :csad:

he was'nt a twig as johnny storm

Yeah he already is in great shape if he could find a way to add ten pounds he would look perfect. I would like for him to try to thicken his neck up some. My only problem with his body is his neck when you look at his head you can overlook how big his chest and arms are

Not sure if this was mentioned, but check out a little film called London with Evans and Jason Stathem and Jessica Biel. Departure a bit for Evans and not many people know about it. Just throwing it out there.

They're not as fun as ovals.

just look at the legendary battles on these forums.....Organic vs mechanic, Keaton vs Bale, Nicholson vs Ledger, Claremont's X-men vs Whedon's, Star Wars vs Star Trek, Michael Bay vs good filmmaking
