I'm assuming that you believe that Sony is jumping the gun with this announcement. If that's not what you meant, I apologize, but I don't see anything wrong with them getting that release date nailed down. An early May release is always great because that's where the summer movie season really begins. A lot of big films have seen huge success being released in that time frame, including the first Spider-Man film back in 2002. To me, this shows that Sony has faith in the new film and believes that it will be a success, which is a good sign.

I think this is great news. I'm sure the reboot will be great, so it's good to know we won't have to wait so long for the sequel.
