Have any of you guys read DD: Redemption? I just recently read that for the first time and i thought it was a GREAT story. It was written by David Hine and it was surprisingly on par with any of Bendis or Brubaker's stuff.

Yeah I read that recently, it was great stuff definitely on par with Brubaker and Bendis.

The thing is from what i've seen the early Daredevil has alot of... well villains you can't take seriously, but thats ofcourse because i have no clue about DD, it's like a random noob whining that Batman's Mad Hatter or Joker are lame heroes, but i mean DD has villains like... Purple man? The Owl? Stilt-Man? So yeah anyhow it's just from what i looked that the more modern DD stories have more lethal enemies, but really what enemies are in Miller's 3 volumes?

The Owl and Stilt-Man aren't really treated like major villains, so they work withing their limits. As for Purple Man...you should read Bendis' Alias series, it shows how disturbing Purple Man really can be.

As for Miller vs. Bendis/Brubaker...I started reading DD with Kevin Smith's run, and probably read Miller's stuff after Bendis had already started his work. The thing is that Bendis and Brubaker each build up on the work of the people before them, and you can see that when you read Bendis work, since you won't be getting teh significance of villains like Typhoid Mary or the such. IF you really want to get into DD, then both hings are gonna eventually be essential reading to you. And personally, I think Miller's run on DD is like his best thing ever.

Also, Born Again (which is in a separate trade I don't think it's collected in the regular Miller DD trades) is quite possibly the best DD story ever written. That is DEFINITELY worth getting in trade right away.

But yeah, it won't hurt too much if you just start with Bendis run. I know a lot of people have suggested starting with Brubaker, and you can, but I preferred Bendis' run and I think you'll appreciate Brubaker's stuff a lot more if you start with Bendis (also reading Kevin Smith's and David Mack's two stories couldn't hurt).

So yeah, if it were me, I'd go with Born Again first, and then Out (Bendis first trade) or the Omnibus.

So I've heard, a lot of people were talking about it when it first came out. I guess I'll have to pick it up.

Has anyone read DD: Father or DD: Battlin' Jack Murdock? I skipped those two but was somehwat interested in each. I just don't know whether or not they were actually worth reading.

Oh, and DD #504 was pretty awesome.

Oh, and to Draz, if you're still not sure about how much you want to invest into DD at this point, you could always just pick up DD #501, since that starts a new creative team's run as well.

Battlin' Jack Murdock was great, definately check it out. Father dragged a little for me but it had a great twist ending concerning an aspect of DD's origins. I thought that was pay off enough.

Yea Miller's Man Without Fear, Born Again and Yellow are awesome I think.

Amazingly, I haven't really read either Bendis' or Brubakers runs, only odd issues here and there. I know, I should be punished. :(

The Man Without Fear is a good one, but really, Born Again is Miller's masterpiece. It is by far my favorite work from him.

I read Daredevil the List and i thought it was intriquing to see Daredevil take charge of the Hand. :) I'm just abit disappointed we won't see DD & his Devil Ninjas in Siege. =*( should it be a good idea for me to jump to the current DD series? Now that he's suddenly a leader of the Ninjas and stuff?

I think i'll just get those Miller volumes in April when i start hoarding for some graphical novels again. ;)

Heh heh. Haven't been keeping up with Spidey. I had no idea Jameson was mayor of NY now until this latest issue of DD.

Cool, i'll definitely check it out then. Miller did some great stuff with him in his main run and the only other time i've read anything of him was in the odd flashback Brubaker teased us with.

I re-read Battlin' Jack again today because you brought it up. Still a top quality story  I'd actually go so far as saying it's a must read if you like Daredevil.

Great, that's really the best way to get into DD. And once you've read those and assuming you enjoyed them, I'd go with Born Again and Man Without Fear. And if you're still loving it, I'd honestly suggest reading Kevin Smith and David Mack's story arcs before you start Bendis. While Bendis stuff is way better, those two stories are still enjoyable and set up many plot elements in Bendis' run.

And you'll find that DD generally stays out of the goings-on of the rest of the MU. Honestly, I think its for the better. We don't have constant interruptions in the story and really get to focus on Matt. But yeah, even so, you can easily start up with DD #501 (which continues the story from the List one shot).

Cool. I do like Zeb Wells too. I guess I'll pick up the trade eventually.

HAS ANYONE EVER READ DENNY ONEIL's run on DAREDEVIL? THAT WAS AMAZING!

its collected in tpb form called: LOVES LABOR LOST

I've read it, and I didn't think it was that great.

DG Chichester is another writer that seemed to have a good run. I've only read his fall of the Kingpin story (around #300) and that was awesome.

Beautiful cover.

With Brubaker taking over Secret Avengers, do ya think that Daredevil will be included? I'd love to see him team up with a black-ops avengers team.

probably not. I honestly thing Daredevil is fine in his own little world. If anything we need to see Iron Fist pop up in DD's world. Brubaker isn't a play favorites kinda guy any ways he's a good story guy.
