Official Deadpool appreciation thread - Part 2

I don't see enough Deadpool appreciation here so here is a thread for one of the coolest and funniest heroes in Marvel comics.

Lapham's Deadpool Max Marvel Universe is my new in continuity universe. That other place with its Dark Siege, Heroic war is some out of continuity series. It also somehow shares the same space with Nextwave.

I wish there was more 'deep' Deadpool stuff like that than the more common 'YUCK, YUCK, YUCK! I'M FUNNY' stuff. I mean I love the comedy of Deadpool, but I don't want him ONLY to be a comedic character.

Ditto, I wholeheartedly agree with you Hippie_Hunter and Spider-Vader. I'm always going on to those who'd listen that ol' Wade works best when the humour is dressing for the multilayered character he really is. I was shocked that no one had anything for ol' Wade since Cable died. I remember seeing him silent in a panel during the close to the Messiah event, but I expected more. That shot of Wade standing defeated over CAble's open grave is a power and beautiful moment. IT shows that no matter how bizarre and screwed up Wade comes across to the rest of the world, at his core, he's still human. He feels pain and loss just like us, if not more so. Cable's one of the few who gave him a shot and real respect. I noticed this issue ISN'T written by Way, so I have a lot of hope for this one.

The guy who writing it is actually good with Deadpool.Wrote Deadpool/Cable #25 and the X-men origins one shot.

“THE DOMINO EFFECT”
Hydra Bob's had a string of bad luck handling his agent Deadpool, which has him on thin ice with his government bosses. Not good when your government bosses have the power to send you to prison or have you shot in the back of the head. But all that's about to change. Two assassinations and the imminent recovery of a kidnapped intelligence operative have turned around Bob's luck. Enter Domino, self styled "Luckiest girl in the world." Bob's convinced she's none other than Crazy Inez, Deadpool's insane groupie, with dye job and some Kung Fu moves. Can Bob find Deadpool and convince his agent that Domino is a fake? And if she is, the one thing that may not be is that growing bump in her belly. Will Deadpool do the righ thing? Will he kill again? Crazy reaches new heights as the life of Deadpool takes a major twist.

I put the spoiler tag because the cover gives away the twist.

May contain spoilers. Anyways, this is written by one of my fav writers on 4th letter and it explores the deeper side of Deadpool. I love it when writers give him that extra bit of respect and write him as more than "Imma meme factory!" If any of you have seen my posts on Deadpool in the Bought/Thought thread for Deadpool and Cable#26 or anything else Wade related, you'll see that I've been extremely worried about his portrayal these days. Well, Remender has got it right. He's in good hands. :)

Just read that issue.Remender certainly understands Deadpool better than Way.

I used to be a Deadpool fan back in the day. But this loony toon living in the Marvel Universe nonsense has effectively killed my interest in the character. Not to mention the constant spamming of the character for the last few years.

I read Uncanny X-Force and Deadpool MAX, I will not touch anything else with him involved. Although the idea of Dr McNinja writer Chris Hastings working on the character fills me with hope.

What annoys me is that Marvel have spammed a load of poor quality Deadpool books in the last few years, which would inevitably cause a backlash. Then an actual good Deadpool book comes along, Deadpool MAX, and it barely sells 20k a month and is changed from an on going into a maxi series.

When is Way going to leave the main Deadpool book? *gets answer*....*sobs*

It'd be cool if Marvel is using these Fear Itself tie ins to judge how Hastings does, then put him on the main book. Chris Hastings is just sooooo much better than Daniel Way. Way isn't fit to lick the guys toilet seat.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you fellow Deadpoolites could help me out with a Pet Project. I'm making a series of monologues called Mighty Marvel Monologues, and for the first I want to feature Deadpool scenes. I was wondering what are some great character moments (funny, dramatic, sad) that you all found great or memorable? I'm already going to use his scenes in Uncanny X-Force#5 and his final bout with Ajax, but I was looking for suggestions from you guys.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Oh and last thing, how should I go about his voice? In my sig, the title cards test features a....unique voice interpretation of him I did a bit back. I got inspired by the description that his voice sounds like "gravel mixed with gasoline", but I'm not sure if you guys think a Nolan North-like normal but loopy guy voice would work?

The scene in the old series where he finds that Blind Al let Weasel into his house, then put them in the Box was great. Really showed how nasty he can be, even to the only people he can really call friends. Demonstrates the self-destructive nature of Deadpool, no matter how hard he tries to be good, he just can't help losing it.

That pretty much sums Deadpool up for me. He's his own worst enemy. He'll do something altruistic, something good. Then he'll revert to his old ways at the drop of a hat. Either that or just sheer bad luck.

Oooh, that's a good one. I'll see if I can isolate some of Pool's dialogue from that scene, if not, I'll look for a friend who can do Blind Al's voice and come back at a later date.

Thanks a bunch man. :)

Alright guys, I need some help here. I own every single variant cover of the current Deadpool series (along with all the variants to Deadpool Corps, Deadpool Team-Up, and Merc with a Mouth) except for one. The Rob Liefeld variant cover to issue #1. I can't find it anywhere. And I need it! Does anyone know where to look at all?

Sorry dude, wish I could help, but I've no idea. :(

Preview for next issue of Uncanny X-Force:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=8295

Shows little moment with Fantomex and Wade; ol' Fanty notes that Wade is always trying to manipulate people's perception of him with his humour. (Remender gets Wade count #33X-A)

I like that scene because it shows that Wade's humour is not just a single part of him, but another mask (defensive and offensive; hides his inner turmoil and annoys/throws off opponents)

I'm quite enjoying the art especially since they're venturing into the wack wacky "World"

I finally got around to catching up a bit on Deadpool Team-Up (disappointed of its cancellation) and I gotta say that the Hellcow issue (in my opinion) was spot on and hit so many beats that I just enjoyed for every word. Probably one of if not my favorite of the series.

I was sad to see Team Up go too, actually. One and done stories, with rotating creators and characters was a good idea. If the main series was a bit more serious Team Up would have been a nice complement to it.

My favourite ones were the Machine Man and Satanna ones.
