Oops:
Look under the letter titled:
Hey Walking Deadheads
and third line down...

Ok, i recently started reading Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead"
and while reading the letters page in an old issue I found this:
TheWalkingDead30-25lp3-CriminalPrev.jpg

I don't know a lot about Robert Kirkman, but I guess he's a Ben Reilly fan. Maybe he grew up with the character like many of us. I think the next generation of artists and writers will be more receptive to the character, because like us, they're nostalgic for him and don't know anything about the behind-the-scenes meddling or sales trouble. Only the stories and the character.

More than that, I think most people who read the original clone saga are still waiting for Ben Reilly's "just deserve". There's a lot of untapped potential there that was unfortunately never explored because the character was cut down in his prime. But now thanks to the mini, the character has the chance to be revitalized from scratch. Will he still patrol the same streets as Spider-Man? I doubt it. Will he team up with the New Warriors again? Probably not. Will he ever set foot in the Daily Grind ever again? Who can say? All I know is that if were lucky, the Scarlet Spider will get his own solo title that hopefully lasts as long as Spider-Girl or venom, and will make an even more lasting impression than either of those two characters.

I actually just formed an interesting idea, if Ben reilly gets his own non 616 series and goes back to being the scarlet spider, then that means I can completely bypass not only the second half of the 90's clone saga where ben becomes Spider-Man, but the clone saga mini as well. I have the option of just reading his adventures as the scarlet spider from the 90's - present day. Sure some of the details might not actually fit together from one volume to the next, but it might be more seamless than having to read each and every issue past and present.

Actually, That was Ed Brubaker writing a letter to Robert Kirkman.
I think that they are BOTH fans of Ben.

Kaine's coming back in June! (Hopefully not to be quickly killed off like it sounds, though...)

glad to see that they're still keeping Kaine around. Hopefully if they make Kaine a threat again maybe this'll help with Ben maybe getting his own ongoing/mini.

Problem is Kaine ISN'T a bad guy anymore. All that character progression now just thrown out the window.

Its strange how Marvel keeps suggesting a link between Kraven and Kaine. Anyone know how they are supposedly connected?

Oh, right. I was thinking of a direct connection between Kaine and Sergei.

During the Spider-Man/X-Men mini, when Mr.Sinister got a hold of Kraven's DNA, maybe there's a story where Sinister works with Warren and blends the Kraven DNA with Parker's and the result is Kaine...

... that might be ****ing awesome...

:yay:

Interesting theory, especially since kaine has always been so good at tracking the spiders. But doesnt explain why he would kill Vladimir in cold blood. If there was any trace of kraven left in Kaine's DNA, he wouldn't kill his own surrogate son.

I'm just not liking this theory. One of the main reasons I like Kaine is because he is the physical embodiment of everything Peter is not. He is what Peter could've become if it wasn't for the role models in his life. It just feels like a cheap move saying oh hes' evil cause he has some of Kraven's DNA mixed in.

Have you guys by any chance seen the trailer for the new game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions? It looks pretty sweet. it seems to take place in 4 seperate Spider-Man Universes: 616, Noir, (which are the only 2 to have been actually confirmed) and then there are two more universes which have yet to be revealed.

I dont know if there are any plans for extra costumes, but I imagine that since there's a virtual cornicopia of costumes that spidey has worn over the years, there is certianly the potential for seeing a Scarlet Spider Costume or even Ben Reilly's Spider-Man outfit.

God I hope that it's for the playstation... and NOIR! I can't believe it really. I loved the series, but I'm surprised to see that version in a game so soon. Better be some 2099 action!

Any of you guys watch the pod cast called Pete's basement?

The main guy Pete had a very interesting....rant i guess you could call it about what he thinks marvel is gearing up to...a retcon of a retcon he called it.
I'll keep it simple...He basically said that marvel is building up to a reveal that the "peter parker" in the current spider-man comics is actually ben and peter is off somewhere else with mary jane and mayday parker. So it was actually ben who made the deal with mephisto etc..

I'll get the episode number if anyone wants to check it out. He's apparently not been wrong with the direction predictions before. Im not saying its going to 100% happen..but its interesting to say the least.

Episode number its season 3 episode 7. Its a pretty good show btw. Mind you in this one Pete comes across a bit over the top and very fanboyish cos he....wait for it....hates the clone saga lol apart from tht though its a good show. check it out even if its just for his theory on Ben.

According to Joystik, it'll be out for every console, including PS3.

Nice...I wonder what other realities are going to be used. Spider-Ham?

I'm pretty sure the 2099 universe will be among the 4 dimensions that are present in the video game. look closely in the trailer at 1:33 and you will see the the silouette of the Alchemex building front and center.

Interesting... BUT waaaaay too convoluted and ridiculous. This guy is engaging in "Wishful Thinking 101."

:awesome:X 1,000....I've wanted a S-Man game since the 90's. This is even better because of Noir! And Slott! It already sounds better than Web of Shadows, which I thought was pretty good.

I'm sure more will be revealed around wondercon. until then I'm starved for news, and I just found out about this game this morning.

Thing is he's not. In this rant he was saying he will quit comics and stuff if this happens. he was also drinking. this guy really hates the clone saga and ben lol

Well, then I won't be giving him the time of day then, lol. Yeah, the Clone Saga was pretty bad, but Ben is the man. Ben and Kaine are the best thing that came out of that era.
