Josh Holloway definitely looks like Ollie, but he doesn't have Damon's star power. I think a GA film, especially with the whole Supermax premise, needs a 'name' to headline it.
So ^^^^^, Jonah Hex and Oliver Queen?
Well, obviously MB.
However, visual differences or not, you really think Brolin would want to be nailed down to headlining 2 potential DC Comics franchises?
I think so. I'm sure he doesn't want to be typecasted as Jonah Hex. Patrick Stewart was both Picard for the Star Trek franchise and Professor X for the X-Men franchise, Josh Brolin can be both Jonah Hex and Green Arrow.
First of all, Brolins career is far to notable at this point for him to get typecast at this point.
Second, Stewart's franchises are completely different,
but at any length I would consider him the exception not the trend. The chance of the same actor appearing in two comic movies by the same company both as the title character is highly unlikely although not impossible.
If Brolin was worried about typecasting he would turn away from the comic movies before getting nailed down as a genre guy like Tom Jane pretty much has become, not be worried about being labeled a cowboy.
Typecasting is always a possibility unfortunately.
Not completely different. Star Wars and X-Men are both in the sci-fi genre. Other than both being characters from comic books, Jonah Hex and Green Arrow are different genres. Jonah Hex is a Western and Green Arrow would be a contemporary urban Action flick.
The comic movies? Again, other than being characters from comic book, Jonah Hex and Green Arrow are different genres and their movies should reflect that and not be thought of as "comic movies".
Not to the degree your expressing. Sure Will Smith will probably be the funny hero in blockbusters all the time, but he gets his chances at other stuff. Your implying he would be stuck as "Jonah Hex"
They may be the same genre, but they are rarely classified so unquely as being THE SAME. You dont compare 2001 A Space Odyssey to Santa vs The Martians. The point is that both Jonah Hex and Green Arrow are far more related that Star Trek and X-Men. It has nothing to so with the actual characters.
Its the same people making them. Im sure they'll look for variety. Id rather not see the same actors over and over.

If they make Green Arrow: Year One into a movie, Mike Vogel would make a great Ollie Queen / Green Arrow.
Me too andI personally think they should just make Green Arrow Year One into a movie with the grit of Mike Grell's Longbow Hunters.
I think Joshua Jackson would make a good Oliver Queen, but he isn't blonde. A common problem I have when casting Green Arrow is alot of the actors who I think would be awesome playing the character don't look like Ollie.
For franchise sake, I'm in favor of going with a younger Ollie.
Me too and
I think Gosling would be the best. I know hes suggested for alot of SH film roles and he really doesnt see the appeal in SH films but I think since GA is one of the most intriguing and "real" SH roles I wish he would take it
Dont get the guy who plays him on Smallville. Case solved. That was easy.
