The Green Goblin as Batman?
Dafoe on being considered for the Dark Knight.
October 28, 2009

The rumor mill may be obsessing now about who will be cast in Batman 3, but the juiciest Bat-rumor online today is about the Dark Knight who almost was.
MTV recently spoke with Oscar-nominated actor Willem Dafoe about rumors that he'd once been considered to play the Joker in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie. Dafoe went one better, though, and revealed that he almost played the title role itself!
"Very early, they talked to me about playing Batman," the Antichrist and Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant said. "I hate to spread these things because unless you remember it well, you're stoking the fires of bulls*** ... But I remember [it]. I've had my brush with these things."
As we all know, Michael Keaton was controversially cast as the Caped Crusader opposite Jack Nicholson as the Clown Prince. Dafoe was 33 at the time that Batman was shot in 1988 (Keaton was 37). At that time, Dafoe was an Oscar nominee as Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Platoon and starred in the back-to-back controversial releases The Last Temptation of Christ and Mississippi Burning.
Dafoe later got his chance at starring in a comic book movie when he played the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise. Ironically enough, he also starred opposite future Batman Christian Bale in 2000's American Psycho.
The video. I didn't feel like quoting it.The video or the idea of Willem as Batman?
And then they tossed him aside like a defective Spartan child.
It sucks because I've wanted Hobgoblin to return for years too,But I not going to read this Alternate reality spidey.
That Spidey costume is absolutely hideous.
I havent looked at it.
Here's all three films done in the 90's cartoon style.
And the first film's trailer done to Spectacular.
