Anton Yelchin?! God help us all, what a terrible choice that would be.

Jake Gyllenhaal dammit!!! :cmad::o

The fact you think Gosling and Affleck would be bad as Hal speaks volumes IMO. Either would have been great.

My guess from what they are looking for Gyllenhaal is the guy. He fits their m.o, and has his schedule open for it.

I can also see Channing Tatum on their short list.

Well the scary thing about that story is it's from Latino Review. They are usually right on when it comes to predicting things like that.

yeah, I'm supporting Jake G, Evans, and Josh Hartnett, now.

Is Fillion out of favor with the geek masses because of age???

because of age, and in a video interview, which is linked in this thread he kinda scoffed at the idea of it.

Yelchin ought to realize himself that he's too young for the role.
Gyllenhaal seems like the best option out there, considering his schedule and fit to play Hal. Hartnett would be awesome, but I guess he has other flicks he's filming.
I'm really starting to like the idea of Jordana Brewster as Carol Ferris, but still like Zooey Deschanel for it as well.

yea anton seems to be a pretty smart guy i hope he declines to do it cause like others have pointed out he is far to young even for what wb is looking for the character, i also wouldnt not want to see emil hirsch he has had some good films and some bad films but also is wrong for the role. Anton is a pretty good up and coming actor and i cant wait to see him in trek and terminator. As for hal i should be someone like jensen ackles, sam W(we know is likely busy), chris evans(also potentitally busy), james franco(would be doing a film during likely time frame of gl) and josh hartnett.

The age thing is legit, though he comes off a bit younger to me. That could be a function of immaturity in the parts I've seen him in, but who knows. I've never seen anything of Serenity or whatever the tv show was called, but I think this cat would be a great Hal. Having said that, Gyllenhaal knows how to act and would look the part okay.

Don't really see Gosling, he seems less likely to be able to bulk up than the others. Affleck's never doing something like Daredevil again. Hartnett turned down Superman, so he'd never do this either.

Latino Review's Elmayimbe (according to his twitter at http://***********/elmayimbe) has mentioned this:

Pretty much Anton is just auditioning for the role, that is all. But he has some leverage because a.) he's going to be in two of the biggest movies of the year (Terminator and Star Trek) and b.) he's a member of the mega agency CAA.

But it doesn't mean he'll get it, just saying that he has SOME pull but rest assured that almost every up and coming actors in their 20s will audition for the role. Anyone will be considered at this point!

also, I forget to mentioned in the Latino Review article that Sam Worthington is OUT of the running, due to another WB project..CLASH OF THE TITANS. So count him out too!

Emile Hirsch and Anton Yelchin for Hal?

And I thought it couldnt get any worse than Gosling and Affleck..

It's like the JL:Mortal casting all over again..
Hirsh suits Kyle better, though he has the acting chops to make a decent Hal.
Yelchin looks far to young and while he is a good actor he hasn't shown he can be the badass needed for Hal.

Casey, not Ben

If Yelchin is just 5-7 years older, then sure, I'll consider him. But he hasn't gone..through that stage where he looks older. (If that makes sense. The post-puberty stage where you start to age a little once you're in the 20s)

I don't care about this movie anymore. :oldrazz:

Exactly.

Oh yeah because Hal Jordan is the king of cool :whatever:

What I mean is it just doesn't seem to me that he has Hal Jordan in him. I don't think he can do it. If he does get the role and does really well with it, I'd be happy. But as of right now, I just can't see it.

yea and then we also have to remember martin campbell probably has a good say in who will be hal in the end so if he wants to be taken serious and take the character in the right matter i hope he sees its not a good move to for the film to go with anton as hal. We need someone a bit older and better suited for this character.

Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on to do Damn Yankees with Jim Carrey.

yea jack would probably be a great pick but he is loaded up on like 3-4 films currently.
