Nathon Fillion- Hal Jordan
nathanfillion1.jpg

Completely uninspired choice I know, but at the moment I feel like its the best. Besides the geek cred through Whedon, I do find Fillion to be extremely charismatic on screen with what seems like little effort. I think Hal might need that because I never found him very interesting. He also has the a very similar appearance, deadpan humor, square jaw, fit, broad shoulders, charisma and I feel like his screen presence always puts him at the foreground but never shadows his supporting cast. All the good making of a leading man in general

Omar Epps- John Stewart

First of all, Epps is pretty underrated. I think his run on House he played a fantastic straightman to House. I feel that John is normally portrayed as the level headed by the book glue of the team. He kinda grounds everybody.

Chris Pine- Kyle Rayner

I think Chris Pine is a big up and comer. Star Trek has a lot of buzz behind it. Hes got the boyish, young good looks and plays naive pretty well (Blind Dating, Just My Luck).

Bradley Cooper- Guy Gardner

Cooper played a great confident a-hole in Wedding Crashers and Nip/Tuck minus the fact that he hammed it up a bit. He definitely looks a little more level-headed in Midnight Meat Train. In Failure to Launch he played a slacker best friend, a real chummy goofball. Mix it all up and you can get a pretty good Guy.

I actually really like that cast there. I really like the Kyle Rayner/Chris Pine choice too.

yea some good picks, i mentioned this before about fillon he said in interviews he doesnt have any interests in doing live action superhero work. But still he probably would be a good pick for hal.

Neither did Ed Norton before the Incredible Hulk.

Fillion's also not an idiot. If he got offered something like that, he would do it in a heartbeat. Iron Man and Dark Knight have put these movies in even higher demand again.

The main thing about GL is that it needs to be Hal Jordan story, no bones about it. Geoff Johns essentially wrote what could very well make the basic treatment and outline of a Hal Jordan/GL movie with his Secret Origins storyline.

Hal Jordan - Jamie Bamber.
John Stewart - Common.
Guy Gardner - Sean Willian Scott.
Kyle Rayner - Milo Ventimiglia.
Carol Ferris - Kate Beckinsale.
Jill Pearlman - Sienna Miller.
Tom Kalmaku - Adam Beech.
Shane Rogers - Ben Browder.
Killowog - Michael Clarke Duncan.
Chummuck - Triple H.
Arísia - Malin Ackerman.
Katma Tui - Emily Blunt.
Tomar Tu - Doug Jones.
Abin Sur - Doug Jones.
Sallak - CGI with Doug Jone's voice.
Sinestro - Jackie Earle Haley.
Attrocius - Clancy Brown.
Black Hand - Ray Park.
Hector Hammond - CGI with Phil Lammar's voice.

I've only really seen him in Transformers... but I think he could pull off Hal.

Great casting choices. :) :wow:

There's no reason to put Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, or John Stewart in a first GL movie starring Hal Jordan.

Or it could not be about Hal Jordan and be about the Green Lantern Corps.

Either way, we gotta have the Hal Jordan movie first

The others can be in the movie, just as long as Hal is the main character.

Here's another possible Hal Jordan candidate that occured to me while watching "Dexter" tonight: Michael C. Hall?

Or it could be about making fans happy and wanting to make money and be about Hal Jordan with the Green Lantern Corps. in it.

You can't do a Hal movie without the Green Lantern Corps. really. But that means Sinestro, Abin Sur, Kilowag, etc. Setting up Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner all in the first movie makes no sense and needlessly weighs the movie down. It makes no sense to force such an early connection with all those characters.

I honestly think Geoff Johns' current "Secret Origins" arc would be a great template for a first "Green Lantern" film.

We must have a psychic link Keyser Soze, since I've noted this before. Then again, great minds think alike.

I think it's no coinincidence that Johns recently started doing this Secret Origins story and udpate.

But you are right, that's basically the exact template to follow for a Green Lantern/Hal Jordan movie. Since it gives you Hal, Abin Sur, Sinestro, Hal's induction into the Corps., Carol, and pretty much everything you need for a blockbuster movie including set-ups for sequels and future villains.

All true. Also, apart from the sequences on Oa and the odd flashback, most of the action is strictly Earth-bound. Therefore, there's plenty of scope to go for the "bigger and better" route with an epic, intergalactic sequel.

Gives Abin Sur alot more meat than just some dude who crashes and is red.

Read Secret Origins. Abin Sur is a totally fleshed out, 3 dimensional character. He is also given a significant history and comraderie with Sinestro.

I think that's what Franklin Richards was referring to, Vile. :cwink:

We know who the characters are now from the script review:

Martin Jordan
Hal Jordan/Green Lantern
Thomas Kalmuka
Carl Ferris
Carol Ferris
Kilowog
Tomar-Re
Abin Sur
Thaal Sinestro
The Guardians
Legion
Hector Hammond

-------------------------
If we go with Miller as the director, Aussie actors are needed so the three roles that I see being filled right off the bat are:

SamWorthington.jpg

Hal Jordan/Green Lantern - Sam Worthington

killll1-1.jpg
HughKeaysByrne.jpg

Kilowog - Hugh Keays-Byrne

Sinestro - Hugo Weaving

Sure they could.

Instead of Hal being sent to Oa when he gets the ring from the dying Abin Sur. He stays on Earth battling bad guys like Sinestro and random criminals like a good super-hero.

What Hal doesn't know is that Sienstro secretly came to Earth to teach him how to use the ring either with or without the Guardians permission, so he can mold the new Earth recruit into a powerful ally for his future agenda against the Guardians (to manipulate them into doing something about the Blackest Night?).

Some GL's show up in the end (Killiwog?) after he's defeated Sinestro. They all leave Earth to travel to Oa, bringing a beaten Sinestro with them, to complete his training in the final seconds of the film.
