I'm still not buying Duhamel as Jordan. He's not a chameleon actor -- ever since I first saw him, that's the guy from All My Children and Las Vegas is the first thing that pops into my head. Plus, his turn in Transformers wasn't exactly a sterling point on his resume.

What about the other three?

Not familiar with your Stewart/Gardner choices, but I imagine your Scott choice might work.

I'm curious as to why people tend to cast Scott, Gardner, and Stewart but not Rayner, when Rayner should supersede all of them when it comes to inclusion in a Green Lantern film.

Based on the movie's concept art, I can definitely see Josh Duhamel in the role.

I didn't include Kyle becuase I've not found my perfect Kyle yet. Scott however has a minor role in the GL film the intend to make, so that's why he is often cast.

Scott Caan is Gardner, and Stewart is Idris Elba

I always thought Jake Gyllenhaal would make a fine Kyle Rayner. Rayner isn't a difficult role to cast, though, in my opinion. I imagine there are plenty of options I'd be happy with.

Which is why people want him for Hal. Duhamel doesn't have to be a chameleon for a role like this.

That movie wasn't a sterling point for anybody's career.

Agreed.

I think with Kyle it depends on how he becomes or grows into the character.

Is he a supporting character in a couple Hal centered movies who later has his own stories, or does he start right off as the main hero in a movie. I would factor that into the casting.

In my ideal world, Hal and Kyle would be like Kirk and Spock.

I don't mean in terms of personality, I mean in terms of them both leading the film.

Save Kyle for a new trilogy where he's the star.

here might be an interesting(semi unknown) pick

With the current people in charge? Kyle would be a sidekick at best.

Yes, but I wasn't saying what I would expect to happen, but rather what I would like to happen.

Anyways, my point earlier was that it seems odd to me that Gardner and Stewart seem favoured for inclusion. Kyle carried the Green Lantern book for ten years; if there's to be more than one human Lantern, he supersedes the others.

What...being involved with a movie that made a ****load of money would be construed in Hollywood as a negative?? I highly doubt any studio execs or casting agents were writing manifestos online about the horrid-ness of Transformers

Because they predate him, so people would like them to appear first. Gyllenhaal would be an OK Kyle, but not my ideal choice.

I might have been unclear; in my mind it's not an issue of who appears first--it's a about the degree of importance the character has in the film. In the hierarchy of Green Lanterns, Kyle is #2. So should it be if he, Gardner, and Stewart appear in these films. Hence my Kirk/Spock comment. As an extension of that, if Kyle is Spock, Stewart and Gardner are the rest of the bridge crew.

Kyle should never be Spock to Hal's Kirk.

Kyle should be Picard to Hal's Kirk.
