Well if we're going that route, disqualifying people who the online buzz says are no longer eligible, then both Nathan Fillion and David Boreanez should be disqualified too, since they are out of the age range.

Neither of those is on Antonello's list.

These are some other names suggested here:

Josh Hartnett

Jensen Ackles

Ben Barnes

Jeffrey Donovan

Leonardo DiCaprio

James Franco

Emile Hirsch

Chris Pine

Jim Caviezel

Josh Brolin

Matthew Fox

Joshua Jackson

Gabriel Macht

Sam Jaeger

Jake Gyllenhaal

Michael Weatherly

the often mentioned and supported Duhamel is not on that list either, I'm adding the poll now, with those names and more.

I was referring to the post that called Fillion a "lock", while saying Gosling and Affleck shouldn't be counted in the same post.

in the poll that is getting attached to the thread

and isnt Hal at 27 years old in the script as concrete as Ryan saying no to superhero genre meaning he isn't very likely for Hal.

And even if they have passed on playing Hal, them being approached for it probably puts them closer to the role than many of the other names on the shortlist. And a renegotiation for a heftier paycheck could very well put either one back in the running.

I don't think money was an issue - certainly, by playing Green Lantern, both would've made more money than they normally make on their normal movies. Gosling doesn't seems interested in playing a superhero because he doesn't thinks he has it in him. Not sure why Affleck turned it down.

to be fair, I would think less of Gosling as an actor if he did a CBF....he's done some fantastic work and a CBF seems a little too easy for him....

Sorry, I should have noted that Antonello was adding those names to Duhamel and Worthington (as suggested by I am the Knight).

Lead roles in CBFs can be great places for acting. Hal Jordan is a type of role Gosling has yet to really succeed in. I think it could actually help him.

It would certainly take him out of his comfort zone - but he seems afraid to try.

Poll is up and it is multiple choice.

I picked Duhamel, Fillion, Dicaprio, and Franco

Francos my favorite right now

Duhamel and Fillion would just be cool

I started thinking Dicaprio would be better suited for Hal than Captain America, and that he could really be good in the role.

Caviezal makes little sense to me. Hes an incredibly boring actor with such a strong internet following.

Fillion is probably not ever gonna happen - I know.

I just realised, like half the cast of Milk are on that shortlist. Perhaps Green Lantern fans should be checking that film out? ;)

Oh I will be. It looks excellent. Early reviews said its not as poignant as the dcoumentary though.

Hirsch and Franco made it on their because of that movie I think. Considering their past work, their age, and this big buzz movie, I personally thought it put them at a similar level as Gosling and Affleck, and others have obviously mentioned them as well for whatever reason.

Voted Franco, Worthington, and Hartnett.

That said, I still sorta think they'll go with Hartnett.

Emile Hirsch is a really good actor, but at 23 I fear he's still a little bit too young. Franco could be good for Hal, though, if audiences can get over him being Harry Osborn.

Hirsch is easily too young. Franco as Osborn I dont think will bother the general audience at all, but might bother Franco.

I voted for Gosling, but would have voted for several others on there if I knew it was multiple choice when I voted.
