Hence why I probably don't want him for Hal. It seems his name above the title of your film is fast becoming a CURSE~!

That's another reason why I don't want him to be cast as Hal.

When he is in the lead role, it seems his films go straight to DVD within 3 months. Not good....

Three actors that I keep hearing come up from a couple of web buddies is

Josh Duhamel, Emile Hirsch, and Ryan Phillippe.

These actors schedules seem to be open for an early 2009 shoot as well.

Don't know how reliable this info is, but I'm just relaying what I heard.

Their info has been accurate on casting before and thats all I'm going to say.

I think Hirsch is a bit too young and short for Hal, but WB's like him apparently. If he does get the role he needs to at least bulk up a bit IMO.

His age doesn't matter, but Speed Racer flopping massively does. It won't be Duhamel, and don't be surprised if it is Phillipe. I'd support him, but like him more as the Barry Allen Flash.

After the drubbing Speed Racer took. I doubt Hirsch will get the role. Duhamel was in a blockbuster Transformers. This is what studio execs look at.

I agree Lobo....I'm hoping that Hirsch does not get it and I don't think he will....but WB's thinks he has the talent and potential to be the next DiCaprio I guess.

Out of those three I think Phillippe may be the frontrunner. I would accept the decision if Phillippe is cast, even though I also see him being more of a Barry Allen type than Hal Jordan.

Besides his schedule being open, it looks like the film may shoot in Australia.

Evidently, his new girlfriend and her family still live down under. Interesting....

I'm a big fan of Hirsch's I just don't think he'll get the role. I think when the casting of Hal is announced, it will be a surprise to all of us.

I just hope it's not some actor we have never heard of who doesn't have any solid experience.

Out of those 3 I'd want Duhamel as Hal. :woot:

Phillippe can be Barry and Hirsch can be Wally in a Flash movie. :yay:

Except that movie Hal is in his 20's

Also anyone who sugests Nathan Fillion gets an instant

Why? Many actors have played characters younger than their actual age and before the GL script leaked, Fillion had the majority of fanboys' votes as the ideal Hal Jordan. (Maybe not yours, but a lot of others' have.)

And I still go by what I said on young-looking actors. You need someone who doesn't look like a teenager or fresh out of college to play Hal -- someone who's been out of college for several years would be more like it.

I wouldn't throw a temper tantrum if any of the more recognizable names were cast as Hal -- I'll give them the benefit of a doubt when I see the trailers/movie.

I agree.

I've always imagined Hal as an experienced ace test pilot in his 30's when he becomes GL.

I used to be a big advocate of Nathan as Hal until i saw avideo where he talked about it :(

^ I've only seen pictures if him, but he has never looked like Hal Jordan to me.

I'd love to see Robert Redford as Alan Scott. But it should be kept as a surprise, like the Tony Stark part in the Incredible Hulk.

Just throwing another name out. Mike Vogel

By this logic we should of cast Crispin Glover as the Joker.

I heard from my guys that the new GREEN LANTERN draft was turned in recently & the execs flipped for it, hen ce Horn's comments.

Man I'm getting excited.

You guys have been here longer than me... yet you don't know that it's "should've" or "should have"?

And Crispin Glover... not a real inspired choice. Before Ledger [rightfully] nabbed the part, Lachy Hume and Paul Bettany were more suited for a Nolanized Joker than Glover. But I digress.

And Lobo, it's great to hear that Warners is going gaga over the GL script. I hope that CK cameo is still there, it'd be a nice nod at DC/Superman fans -- but we need more CASTING rumors! Like who's going to play Carol, Hal, among others.

How about Sarah Lancaster as Carol?

Yeah, lets hope it starts moving forward soon.

Funny someone mentioned Jackman on steroids...that doesn't surprise me one bit. Probably doing human growth hormone as well.

What does Jackman have to do with this thread?
