^He's busy.

Right now, I'm rooting for Chris Evans, or Jake G.

Jake Gyllenhall (sp?) would not be a terrible choice by anymeans. He an amazing actor comparable to the likes of Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, and many other acclaimed actors who have made a home in the DC film universe.

meh, I strongly doubt he'll end up being Hal Jordan. I think instead that we'll end up seeing more than an Australian actor for the main roles. Worthington was obviously a strong candidate and I think we'll hear the rumor of Hugo Weaving as Sinestro soon.

I would be very happy about that.

Yeah, Evans would be good, too. :woot:

Gyllenhaal is a good actor, but, just like Gosling and Affleck, I just don't think he fits Hal at all.

What's Worthington busy with? Clash of the Titans? I thought filming GL was pushed back. I hope so. Than he could do both. :yay:

Just imagine in only 2 years he'd have Terminator: Salvation, Avatar, Clash and GL. Wow.

I remember comments like that about Heath ;)

Not from me. :yay:

I'm probably gonna get crap for this but, Gyllenhaal is not masculine enough to play Hal. Same with Gosling and Affleck.

Anybody can get a body like that. Maguire did for Spidey. Forget 'not masculine enough', OK. He's just not COOL enough. I can't see Hal in him. If they do end up choosing him, I'll live. I just prefer someone who, I think, fits Hal a lot better.

Apparently Goyer liked him for Batman. Thank God Nolan was in charge.

He'd be an excellent Spider-Man, though.

He's one of my top picks for Hal but Won't Chris be filming a other movie around the same time as GL?

Yes, but his role in Scott Pilgrim vs the World is not a leading one, so he could potentially do it.

better Jake than Anton:

"With both a director and a release date firmly in place, the search is underway for Hal Jordan. From what I gathered so far, Sam Worthington is obviously unavailable due to his role in Clash of Titans... Ryan Gosling, who we reported earlier as a candidate, passed on the role...According to a source, Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer) has also just passed on the role...

So the producers are looking at every young up and coming actor in Hollywood INCLUDING a name I at first found peculiar, but it grew on me and I wanted to share it with you guys.

Anton Yelchin"

Anton is way too young. He's 19.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Duhamel, and Ryan Phillippe would all be solid choices for Jordan.

Emil Hirsch is far too young and I'm glad he passed if he truly did.

Yelchin is even younger than Hirsch and he is NOT Hal Jordan!

Gyllenhaal, Duhamel, Worthington, Phillippe or Hartnett dammit!

19 is way too young for Hal Jordan. Hell, you could argue that 27 (as Hal is in the script) is too young for Hal Jordan, but we're living with it because it's an origin story.

Emile Hirsch??? I was thinking Hugh Jackman.

Emile Hirsch and Anton Yelchin for Hal?

And I thought it couldnt get any worse than Gosling and Affleck..

It's like the JL:Mortal casting all over again..

I think Yelchin is just a name on a list. El Mayimbe is just trying to hype it up to seem like he's seriously considered and in talks.

Yelchin's name even being on a list for this role is a very bad thing

If only James Denton was 20 years younger, then he'd be a good casting choice. I was flipping through channels and I caught an episode of Reba where he guest-starred. I was him and was like "Hm, I wouldn't mind seeing him being cast as Hal."

Shame they're aiming for a much younger actor, Denton's definitely got the jaw for a Green Lantern. I mean, RDJ is in his 40s and if Warners wants to make GL their own IM, they should be willing to cast older than that if the actor is good enough for the role.

I do hope that the eventual role will go to someone who'll please a lot of fans and not a lot of these popular names being bandied around. Maybe someone who's been mentioned but never seriously considered.

The fact you think Gosling and Affleck would be bad as Hal speaks volumes IMO. Either would have been great.

My guess from what they are looking for Gyllenhaal is the guy. He fits their m.o, and has his schedule open for it.

I can also see Channing Tatum on their short list.
