Welcome one and all to the annual Super Bowl thread, hosted by ME...and cohosted by those badliest jokers Matt, and Mister J! Without them, I am nothing.

This thread feels familiar...oh yeah, because we had the same poll four years ago! :wow:

Who ya got? Bring on the picks, discussion, food, and whatever else related to the big game that is a mere ten days away. Don't forget to pay your cover fee to Matt at the door.

Even though Vegas picked Pats to win, I think Giants will upset New England again with superior defense and an Eli Manning who has been outplaying Brady in recent months.

I dont think Manning's outplayed Brady in any month this season. Outside of Brady having an off week last week, he's been lights out basically all year. Hence the 5,000 yds passing.

My vote goes to Elite N. ManningFace.

But I don't mind either team winning, really... I still kinda despise the Pats for the whole SpyGate thing and for owning my Steelers most of the times they've played, but they can still be a fun team to watch. And the Giants really pulled it together at the end of this season to knock out the teams assumed to be the best of the NFC.

Most of all, thank God Almighty that we don't have to endure a Harbowl, complete with clips of Jack Harbaugh saying senile old man sh**, with the most EPIC duel of punts you've ever seen, and a STUNNING 6-3 final score, courtesy of those future Hall of Famers, Joe "Unitas" Flacco and Alex "Montana" Smith.

I'm going with the Giants.

We need to freeze Archie Manning's semen and use it to create a race of super-soldiers for World War III.

The G-Men have been on a roll lately. No team plays better in the post-season, it seems. That being said....Brady and Darth Hoodie want revenge. They are still furious that due to a fluke, they aren't going for number 5. And I don't bet against Brady and Belichik when they are pissed.

I'm calling a wave of Bloody Brady Revenge coming over the Giants soon.

Brady is coming off a lackluster game in Brady standards, and the Giants cost them a 19-0 season. I don't see the Pats taking this lightly, and I see tons of anger from them in more directions than the Giants. The Giants are playing great right now, but I think the Pats have more to play for in this game. I see them winning it.

If Brady wasn't pressured as much as he was and had more of a Brady-like performance in XLII...that 'fluke' wouldn't have mattered as much. But I'm glad if it turns out more people pick the Pats. It's worked better that way. :O

Patriots are my team so they will have my full support. Although I'll be in a house full of patriot haters so I may need support my self.:(

I may barricade myself in my room only emerging to sneak to the snack bar lol.

Go Patriots!

As always i'll be rooting for the Giants but something tells me that the Pats will somehow get this one, hopefully it doesn't happen.

I'm rooting for the Giants. But I feel the Patriots will recover from their last game and step it up come Super Bowl Sunday. Darth Belichick and his stormtroopers are scary. Especially that lead stormtrooper.

:o

There it is. The Pats never play back-to-back bad games. Say what you want about Belichick. He seldom lets his boys get complacent and when they are he holds them accountable and they as a team move forward and take it out on their next opponents. The G-Men are going to have to pull out every stop to take down the Pats and I just don't think that they have it in them.

The Giants are playing great right now, but the Patriots, despite their defense are a great team (this Giants team is not, they just got hot at the right moment). I think the Pats win this one.

It's interesting how much is on the line for both teams. If Belichick and Brady win, they probably establish themselves as the best coach and quarterback of all time. They will have tied Noll and Bradshaw. They will definitely have to be considered in those discussions. Meanwhile, should The G-Men win, Eli will effectively step out of big brother's shadow and Coughlin will probably net himself a spot in the Hall of Fame. There is a lot on the line here.

Very afraid of the Giants, as a Patriots fan. I did not want to see this matchup. I think it is going to be a scary close game, but I think if the Patriots win in the trenches, they win the game. That is why the Giants one last time around. Their lines were better than the Patriots lines. The Story of football.

I think if the G-Men's front four (arguably the best or one of the best in the league) can terrorize Brady and get pass-rush pressure, the Giants will be in a great position to upset the Pats. Also, while both teams have an elite QB, Brady will be facing a tougher defense than Manning will, and since both teams heavily dependent on their QB to win, I think the performance of the QB will mean the difference in the game. Yes, I know Pats defeated Ravens with Brady going 0 TD and 2 INT, but I don't think they can do it twice, especially not in the SuperBowl.

I'll root for Giants, but for the sake of the "underdog" factor, I'll say Pats win

I think this is really what it comes down to, because if the Giants are able to get the consistent pressure without blitzing they're accustomed to, than the Patriots are going to need those tightends to stay home and block, instead of running routes, which will negate the Patriots only true advantage IMO.

I don't know why people seem to view the Giants as the underdog, they might be gambling-wise for whatever reason, but to me, top to bottom, they have the better team, and beat the better competition coming in, all on the road I might add.

I'd definitely say the Giants are underdogs yet again. They had a barely decent season and were on the road through the playoffs.

People and the media need to stop playing up the "revenge" factor of this game. There are only 23 players between both teams who played in that game 4 years ago, only 7 on the New England side.

Love this article:
http://deadspin.com/5879228/the-new-england-patriots-are-not-out-for-revenge

especially this quote
The revenge narrative is quick and dirty and convenient, but it's really for the fanbases, whose institutional memories are much longer than the players'. If the matchup had been Giants-Ravens, it would have been portrayed as a revenge game for the Giants, even though only Ray Lewis is still left over from Super Bowl XXXV. Hell, if the Texans had made the Super Bowl, they'd be drawing inspiration from Houston Oilers of old.
A New England win would be special because it's a championship, but it would only be extra-special for Patriots faithful still smarting from Glendale. Memories of Super Bowls past are for the fans. For the guys on the field, history is last week's game.

Yeah only 7, but if Tom Brady wants revenge, and if Darth Hoodie wants it, that whole team will want it.

Agreed. Wes Welker too. That team clearly has heart. To be honest, they're not stupid, a lot of smart Football analysts were looking hard at the Giants. By that Ravens game the Giants were more than an outside possibility. The Patriots want this.
