I think the ending that they used was better then the alternate, I think. The endingI liked it better that waywhere he died was better because it created more drama and sadness.

the ending killed the movie for me, it was all hyped for him to finally work out this cure, and he dies! his dog dies!!, i hate when good animal characters die in movies, that **** was sad.
also i would have liked him to live to be around for another movie, suppose the cure doesn't last too long or he could have mutated the strain and caused a new branch of infection.
that would have been cool.

I have read the book and I say that neither theatrical ending nor alternative one are close to what was written in the original source![]()
