I need to know a couple of these from those who have read the books. Are the vampires the run of the mill blood suckers that have no free will and just want blood? Also, are they conscious...do they speak? Someone mentioned the female vampires seducing him, what for?

The ones in the book have personality and are actually characters, but still crave that human blood.

Will Smith's okay even if he plays the same character pretty much all the time. As for the director, Constantine as a movie by itself not counting how it raped the comic book was halfway decent. I mean hopefully this doesn't become another crappy Blade Rip-off since that essentially was what Constantine was.

Yea i can agree with that will is a great actor dont get me wrong, but his characters and moods and how he says things, are always the same.

the only movies i can see hes done great with is Irobot and The pursuit of happiness.

The female vampires do try to seduce him, but never succeed. He eventually sound-proofs the house so he doesn't have to hear them moaning.

Later on he asks himself "Why do I always experiment on the females?" when testing with garlic and stuff. He ignores his question.

They weren't the average Hollywood cliche. Some had completely lost it and were basically skeletons craving blood. There were also some who still had their minds somewhat intact, and just harassed Robert for the fun of it.

The only reason the female vampires seduced him is because the vampires knew he was watching them through a peep hole. They tried everything to get him out of his house.

Of course it was kind of funny because Robert was so lonely and a couple of times he was tempted.

There was another group that learned how to control the vampire virus, and basically had to keep suppressing it in order to stay alive. They still weren't exactly human, but nether fully vampire.

Go read the book chonchie, it's flawless. And short.:cwink:

But how do you know that they like to drink human blood? i thought he was the only human out there?

The movie is completely different. Do yourself a favor and take a few hours out of the day and read the book. It's nice and short. But it's also brilliant.

Can i go to Borders to get this book?

^It's everywhere, especially since the film is about to come out.

I asked this a few months back. I realize that The Last Man on Earth was not 100% faithful to the book, and wasn't even that good of a movie, but how similar was it to the book? Go ahead and list those spoilers.

Not a whole lot is changed from the book. They changed Robert's last name from Neville to Morgan. Most of the plot is identical though. The made Morgan into a scientist in the movie, which he never was in the book. I think they also might have changed a few things in the last act, but nothing major. It was pretty faithful.

The ones that I saw had the same greenish cover with the vampires on the front of it.

Thank you.So basically, I already read the book. :o

I still will go to Barnes & Noble and read the book after I see the new movie. Actually, I'll probably go there and read it on Saturday.

I recognize that cover. It's a new print due to the upcoming movie. Not only does it have I Am Legend in its entirety, it includes several of Matheson's short stories.

The Near Departed is one of them.

That version, with that cover and the short stories has been out for a few years now actually. I've had it for a long time.

After reading the book, I have to say that from what I have read and seen, this movie will be nothing like it except for the whole "last man on earth" part, I am just going to go into the movie expecting something totally different so I can enjoy it.

My mistake. I hadn't seen that version until recently and it had a "Soon To Be Released Motion Picture" printed on the cover. I have it too.

I really really really wish Ruth was going to be in the movie.:csad:
