It wasn't confirmed nor denied. I was very disappointed because of cartoonish CGI and the whole crappy scene culmination. Also, I didn't get to see enough Venom.

No, he wasn't It was just another nightmare!!! There was no Venom at all, but Symbiote Eddie Brock Jr (he will never be forgotten for his crappy name, being heard in every his scene)

I agree with that .
Shutting down streets , the masses , the bridge lighting costs , boats , safety etc.

They've got SPI working on the VFX . Dunno about the Protosevich stuff though. I mean they're using it but there are various reports that Akiva rewrote the script

I think all VFX studios have certain hit or miss projects.
ILM has definately bounced back with Davey Jones and now TF. Until then WETA stole their thunder with LOTR and the King Schlong movies.
And i have to mention one movie that WETA worked on and while i think their sequences look great , i'm sure (alot) of people will tear me a new one when they hear that WETA worked on X3

With SPI i think they really need to work on their CG humans but their creature animation looks good. Spidey and Venom looked great in the animated form ( notice i'm not talking about movement of the CG characters).
And i thought the CG fire in GR did look very real.
Besides they're software for shaders looks awesome.

Like the VFX in Van Helsing and The Mummy 2 looked soo great

To this day i have never seen ILM deliberatly attempt to creat CG humans. And i don't mean stuff like Hulk or quick far away shot of Jack Sparrow and OBI-WAN. I'm talking about real full on close up CG shots of humans a la Neo and the smiths in the Burly Brawl or Doc Ock.

I'll give you the flame effects although i'm not sure that ILM really did use CG flames in the SW movies. I think it was more blue screen shooting of fire elements and them mixing it with CG shots.
