After you see The Avengers, Iron Man 2 doesn't feel as weak as it was when released. It may have been a big prequel to Avengers, but it does set up relationships and characters (not deep enough, I may add). Specially between Natasha/Fury/Coulson. Part of the reason why Avengers worked is because you knew every character and how they interact with each other. The relationship between Stark and Coulson developed so smoothly over the course of the movies, that you can't really take his short appearances in the Iron Man films. Without them, the emotional pay-off wouldn't have been the same.
I think that part was well handled. The 'villain' part of IM2 was the weak part, short and underdeveloped.

Same.

I actually enjoyed it more than Captain America and The Incredible Hulk.

I liked it more than TIH too. Captain America was a bit better though, although I understand where you are coming from. RDJ makes all of these movies so funny and entertaining.

"There's so much dumb stuff in "Iron Man 3" that I expected the credits to say, "Written and directed by Thor." Kyle Smith New York Post

WHAATTTT!! :argh: I can't believe that Thor is considered to be dumb by this one called Kyle Smith. What about Hulk??

Go to the IM3 board they said, it will be fun they said....

So is it true that...
...Bill Maher is in the movie? :lmao:

nothing's been fun here lately Sif.. lots o' negativity lol.

It's very interesting to see how different sections are looking like. '_'

I see.... -_- I went thru the posts here and I immediately wanted to go back home. In our realm it's kind and comfy. ^_^

Oh yeah, I try to stay active in IM,Thor,Cap,GotG,AntMan, and the Avengers2 boards.. it was nice and peaceful here until the movie released now it's very busy and chaotic lol.

Nobody likes Batman and Robin or Spider-Man 3. Both were franchise killers. They are a punchline for the fans and non-fans. This just isn't the case for movies like Iron Man 2 or Batman Returns. Maybe even Last Stand can be added to that list. I guess I never really heard alot of people hating that movie offline.

You do realize you are incorrect according to your own methodology? Go to RT. Both films have "fresh" ratings. Someone liked them. Go look at the RT score for The Host. Now go to the IMDB forums. People who like it.

Heck our own great leader C. Lee likes B&R. :woot:

I personally like B&R....had no problem with the comdeic aspect of it. But that's just me.

They shouldn't have released it!!! :wow: Destroyers of peace, I call them! lol

I might check out the situation in the Cap thread tomorrow.

I wonder how things will turn out to be in the THOR forum after the release of TDW.... mh. Just in case the crowd will rampage, I shall prepare for battle then. Where is the mead? :woot:

Batman and Robin has a 12%/3.6 IMDB

Spiderman 3 has a 63%/6.3 IMDB

Both movies are generally hated by fans of the characters and the general audience. Both were franchise killers. Iron Man 2 led to Avengers and isnt hated by its fans, generally. Its ratings are better than either movie. Not sure what your point is.

That is the most serious problem with the film I had. It tries very hard to be both, and ultimately it ends up being neither.

The latest negative review added mentioned this.

There are some nice lines and a thrilling air rescue sequence, but the constant need to puncture every half-serious moment with a tongue-in-cheek gag grows tiresome quickly:

Audience review percentage is all that really matters.. 99% on 121,495 ratings if you chose to ignore it.

I usually pay more attention to the Avg. Rating than the %.

:funny:

That wouldn't be said if the RT was higher. Go look at the Avengers for this very situation. Using it as validation. :D

Same here, not that it really matters in the end. All about how I feel in the end.

That's not the audience review percentage, that's the "want to see" rating.

haha oops! now I look silly. Ratings don't mean much to me like someone just said it's all about how I feel when I watch it. I just threw that out there because it seems like multiple people are trying to make the movie look to be crap or something when it isn't lol.

I'm still kinda baffled how The Avengers could get such a high score, and this doesn't. I liked Joss Whedon's movie, but come on, it doesn't really attempt to do something too interesting. It's fun, but it also plays very safe and is quite generic (Whedon sure needs to improve as a director, I think that Favreau could have pulled of something more "dynamic" with the very same script), if it weren't for the fact that it's the first comic book cross-over.

It's doing just fine and I actually feel the critics got it right. It's miles better than IM2, but not on the same level as IM1/Avengers. At least they improved significantly over IM2. Very glad to see that.

It works both ways though. A lot of people who decry reviews are the same people who use them as "proof" when they want to prop a film up.

Ok I get peoples dissapointments, but it almost sounds like since things didnt shape out the way they wanted, Tony wasnt tested in this. His home was destoryed, he had to think fast without his suit, face his fears, save his loved ones, and almost get killed cause of the villian in this. To me that makes a good villian even if its not the way I thought it would be. You can have a awsome sounding and looking bad guy in a movie and not have the good guy really tested, I have seen it in many films. I am looking for a hero to be put through the ringer and thats what I got here so I was fine with it.

Of course people wanted it to turn out like they hope. People wanted a new name etch into villain folklore.

One is a piece of entertainment, the other is trying to say something.
