Face it, Maxwell Lord is NOT an A-list villain (wouldn't even reach C-list in the whole list of comic-villains). Add the fact that he'll be up against the big 7 DC heroes, and you will definitely need an A-list superstar to recognise.

With George Miller behind the camera, I say it's obvious who may be near the top of the list.....

Mel Gibson

(He may be 51, but I doubt he'd actual go one-on-one with Batman/Superman/etc.)

Dafoe's not big enough, and will be compared to Green Goblin.

To match the Big Seven, you need a face / presence to match (and make up for the lack of villain recognition), AND someone not seen in another comic-based flick.

Someone like Crowe (NO), Cruise (hell No!), Hanks (doubtful), or even Pitt (nah!). But Gibson could work.

he's already green goblin, thats a no-no

No they should reteam for Fury Road (Mad Max 4) I have a feeling Miller took on this project so that WB could finally give that one the greenlight if it's a big success. A big name actor around late 30 - 40 ish would be ideal since they're going with Checkmate Max and not JLI Max.

^ He's great on House. IMO, the only other actor on that show that's as good as Hugh Laurie. I'd love to see him as Maxwell Lord.

oh good to kno he's good I was just saying maye because I never seen him act.

You should probably see him in 'Dead Poets Society'. He's brilliant in that, imo.

you lack of knowing who Chris Reeve was is still shocking to the users as the hype....

(Cant speak still shocked)....lol

I think Matt Damon could be cool.

Brilliant and so obvious of a choice I'm surprised it came out this soon.

Good job.

I think its Mel's to lose.

Didn't Mel say that he was going to take a break from acting for the time being? That's not to say that he wouldn't take the role if it was offered, but it certainly makes it a bit less likely. He's a great choice for Lord though, so he has my approval.

Is Maxwell Lord a shrewed and dangerous businessman like Lex Luther?
I know he killed [BLACKOUT]Blue Beetle[/BLACKOUT], but before that was he just a sleezy guy or a big villian?

I think Mel is a good choice. Another I would like to see, Sean Bean.
