Comics Official NEW MUTANTS Discussion Thread

Drinking age used to be 18, but the federal government upped it to 21 during the 1980's. No idea why. I didn't hit the 18-21 age range until the turn of the century.
Bc teens kept crossing states lines to drink. The drinking age varied from state to state prior to an Act enforced in the 80s, which would limit federal funding to any state which allowed for the sale and consumption of alcohol to anyone under 21. Thats what prompted states to change their minimum age laws

Ah. Meanwhile, teens in border states just crossed international lines to get drunk. God bless our pre-9/11 ability to cross the Mexican and Canadian borders without passports.

Kitty is much younger than Karma. In fact, she's about Wolfsbane's age, which means she should be about 21.
yep
When New Mutants debuted, Karma was 19, Sam was 16, Moonstar was 15, Bobby was 14 and Rahne was 13. Kitty was 14 at that same time

As far as the Gen X kids, when it debuted, Chamber was 18, Paige was 17, M and Synch were 16, Skin was 15 and Jubilee was 14
Thats what I thought no way could Sam be only 21 if Rahane was the youngest new mutant and she was said to be 21 lately.

I remember the X-Force gang visiting Skids and Karma in college and that must of been a few years ago in comic years.
I really think that was just an error that the editors missed bc it makes no sense. Paige is probably about that age. The recent issue of UXM had Pixie not much younger (yeah I know WTF) Sam is closer to about 23-24. Xi'an was significantly older than the rest of the team. She was 19 when they first started. She's most likely in her late 20s now
I think comic writers should just avoid giving exact ages in comics and just say what general age a character is if they can.

Just say a teenager, twenty something, early 30s ect instead of an exact age like 33.
That reminds me: I need to "getting Pixie drunk" to my (very short) list of things Dazzler has done since the X-Men moved to SF.
Pixie is Welsh getting drinking is in her blood

the x-men late 20's early 30's
New mutants mid 20's early 20's
GenX late teens early 20's
New/young x-men early teens

Except for Cable, who is simultaneously 5 and 50 years old.

and sean, logan, john proudstar and forge there like 40's late 40's there old

and Charles Xavier & Juggernaut, who I think are in their 60s or 70s.

ya but charles is like in his 40's body wise magneto to i think maybe 30's

IA. We comic fans know the general age of the characters. Writers create a mess when they try to specify things like this. For this reason I choose to ignore what they recently said about Cannonball bc theres no way it makes any type of sense

john proudstar is kinda alive in x-force i think..

seans still died tho HAHAHA

Do you mean James Proudstar? Or has something happened and John's back from the dead?

kinda back from the dead...but you don't like X-force so i guess you wouldn't know

Say, now that the X-Men have time machines readily available, why don't they just go back and grab some of their dead comrads a split second before death?

History has proven that the past shouldnt be messed with. Save a dead comrade and that could end up resulting in someone else dying instead

Doesn't that only happen in stories where Death wants to keep a balance, and fate just takes the next guy instead? By that logic, shouldn't someone die unnecessarily every time Deadpool survives something ridiculously deadly?

I really dont know much about Deadpool to comment on him, its like the butterfly effect here. Lets say they went back in the past to stop Jean from dying in the DPS for example. Just look at how much would have changed then. On the flipside, look at what happened when Legion went into the past to kill Magneto. Didnt quite work out the way he wanted it to, and we got AoA as a result. Things happen for a reason and its why the past shouldnt be touched. No one knows what the consequences will be and it could end up more disastrous than the problem they were trying to fix

How difficult would it be to go back to the day Banshee died, and have a teleporter save him while dumping another body in his place? Everyone would think Banshee died, life would go on as usual, then BAM! He pops up a year (comic time) in the future, fresh as a daisy.

thats probably what will be the explanation for when he DOES return Manic, lol

Banshee doesn't have the luck of the Irish thats for sure!

They just want Banshee to pay even more for the whole X-Corp fiasco if having his throat slit wasn't bad enough they kill him off in that old trick of kill a good guy to prove how powerful and badass a new villain is which is lame.

the only good thing to come out of it was seeing how it effected Siryn which was well told IMO.

Just read New mutants #1 it kinda reminds me how young x-men started... i loved the scene with scott and sammy.

it was kinda like how the Prof. X use to be with Cyke..

The first issue wasn't bad.

I gotta say, Sam & Bobby should be more understanding when it comes to the kids and Illyana. Every time the students met Illyana previously, she was a villain. She ate their souls, cut their arms off, got them nearly killed to fulfill her own agenda without asking for their help.

And now she's acting all devious and creepy around her old teammates.

Illyana still doesn't have all her soul and she just got back from being dead so she's going to be a little werid
