Mine seems to be fine. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. You may just have a bad battery?

Possibly. My girlfriend has the same problem. I'll call Nintendo.

Do you turn off the wifi signal? I always keep mine off, unless I'm on the eShop or playing some MP. But most of the time, it's off.

My wifi is usually on, though I may start turning it off if I'm playing something that doesn't require it from now on.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier Rides To Nintendo 3DS This Month. March 17, 2015 . 9:30am

Fossil Fighters: Frontier will be released for Nintendo 3DS in North America on March 20th.

[YT]07qM4X15sMY[/YT]

Fossil Fighters: Frontier will be released for Nintendo 3DS in North America on March 20th, Nintendo announced this morning. The game will include both a singleplayer story mode, a local co-op mode, and an online battle mode.

In Fossil Fighters: Frontier, you excavate Vivosaur fossils and use them to bring dinosaur-like creatures to life. You can then use these creatures to do battle in a tournament. Each Vivosaur has four parts: head, body, arms and legs.

In most cases, you only need the head fossil to bring one to life, but excavating the other parts allows your Vivosaur to acquire more skills.

Frontier also has a new feature whereby you can drive a buggy around to explore its world and discover new fossils. More information on the game can be found on its official website.

Nintendo Promoting Xenoblade Chronicles 3D With Comments From Japanese Players. March 19, 2015 . 12:31pm

The latest trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D features comments from Japanese players that played the original on Wii.

[YT]oqjKU7ccIZ4[/YT]
A new introductory trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D shows off a variety of areas from the game’s large world. The narrator introduces games like the Bionis leg, arm, and other parts of the map that you’ll travel to through the course of the story.

The video also shows off features such as changing the time of day, discovering new landmarks, and so on. Following that, we see comments from Japanese players that played the original version of Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii. Nintendo appear to be letting word-of-mouth do the talking for them. Here’s what the comments say:

The world being recommended:
“I was moved by the world’s grandeur.” (26, male)
“Enraptured by the music and story. I might just cry.” (23, female)

The exploration being recommended:
“I recommend it to those that just want to go on an adventure in a huge world.” (16, male)
“It’s fun even just prowling around in the gigantic fields.” (17, female)

The battles being recommended:
“Such exhilaration upon defeating enemies.” (36, female)
“The dialogs during battle as well as thinking up battle strategies are fun.” (39, male)

The relationships being recommended:
“Even the townspeople have individuality. I believe it is quite interesting to pay attention to them, too.” (20, female)
“A great variety of sub-events, which progress at a brisk pace, thus making the progression of the main events slow.” (28, male)

Other comments:
“Going on an adventure in a grand world without any stress—the original appeal of an RPG.” (26, male)
“For those who wish to experience the true feeling of adventure in a game world.” (38, male)
“You’re the one that decides the relationships you want to build, and the allies you want to develop.” (19, female)

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be released worldwide this April for the New Nintendo 3DS.

Puzzles & Dragons coming May 22nd, along with a demo

On May 22, two huge and immersive puzzle games developed by GungHo are coming in one package to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The newest game, Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition, resembles a classic Super Mario Bros. game with a puzzling twist. Players drag and match colorful orbs to chain combos to battle opponents, level up and clear stages. But the action beyond that simple drag-and-match premise reveals much deeper game play. The game transports players to the Mushroom Kingdom, where they recruit Bowser’s baddies, like Goombas, Koopa Troopas and the Koopalings, along with much-loved characters like Toad and Yoshi to help fight more than 80 classic enemies across a variety of different worlds.

The second game, Puzzle & Dragons Z, which became a big hit in Japan and sold more than 1.5 million units in the first six months after launch, features similar drag-and-match game play with an even richer storyline. Players collect and battle a fantastic array of more than 250 Monsters, which can be hatched from Eggs that players gather from defeating enemies. Then, using collected Chips (from defeating enemies), players can evolve their Monsters to gain new Skills, a higher level cap and better stats on their quest to rebuild the world.

Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition launches on one game card at a suggested retail price of just $29.99. Best of all, everyone can try out Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition before it launches by downloading a free demo in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS starting in early May.

So has Nintendo discontinued the old 3DS? I went to Target today and they replaced their old store model with the New 3DS XL demoing Majora's Mask.. Great piece of hardware as it seemed solidly built. I wasnt a fan of the 2nd stick though. A bit too small for my tastes. I looked in the bottom rack and all they had was New 3DS and the 2DS. All traces of the previous model was gone. Is that how they are moving going forward? So if someone in the US doesnt like the XL's large size, then they are screwed if they dont by a regular one before the stock dries up?

The original 3DS was discontinued a while back according to reports from retailers. The XL's might still be being distributed, but it could just be the final batches they produced. I know they have already discontinued the XL in Japan, but they've had the New 3DS for a while.

I imagine we'll see the old XL's going for next to nothing come Black Friday.

I don't think there's been anything officially said about it, but yeah, it seems that way. You can still find OG XL models, at least around where I'm at, though. I recall reading something about how the XL model actually outsold the OG model like 3 to 1 in overall sales here, so I guess it's not a huge issue for most people. If you're interested in it, I would just go for the New XL. Even if you don't like the c-stick thing, you can easily just ignore.

Shulk Takes On A Unique Monster In Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. March 24, 2015 . 11:55pm

Unique Monsters are pretty much considered mini-bosses in Xenoblade Chronicles, and the latest gameplay footage for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D shows Shulk and the others team up to take one down.

Unique Monsters are pretty much considered mini-bosses in Xenoblade Chronicles, and the latest gameplay footage for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D shows Shulk and the others team up to take one down.

What made Unique Monsters important in the original Xenoblade Chronicles is how they drop Affinity Coins, used to set up skill links between characters. While they can be obtained by leveling up characters, getting them from the 157 Unique Monsters surely came in handy.

Additionally, director Tetsuya Takahashi and other developers from Monolith Soft are expected to appear in an upcoming NicoNico Livestream on the 26th, for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, which will be aimed for those that are new to the series.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is slated for release on April 10 in North America and April 2nd in Europe for Nintendo 3DS.

Xenoblade Chronicles Was Developed To Prove A Point After Xenosaga Failed. March 27, 2015 . 9:29am

“We released three games in the Xenosaga series, but they weren’t very well received. It was really mortifying,” says Monolith Soft founder Tetsuya Takahashi.

Speaking with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in an “Iwata Asks” interview, Tetsuya Takahashi, executive director of the Xenoblade series, talks about the development of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii, and what Monolith Soft’s goals for the game were. The first goal, Takahashi says, was to develop a “masterpiece” JRPG that balanced story and gameplay, instead of ignoring one for the other.

“To give a brief outline of the structure of JRPG, first you have the story as the y-axis, and the game system and game play as the x-axis, and it’s really important to keep those two things balanced,” Takahashi says. He goes on to share that he feels a lot of JRPGs—including some of his own—make the mistake of focusing a little too much on the story aspect and ignoring the gameplay aspect, to their detriment.

“So the first thing I did when I was making Xenoblade Chronicles was to use my experiences to decide what a good balance was for the x-axis and y-axis, and structure it that way,” he says to Iwata.

Takahashi then reveals the other goal Monolith Soft had in mind when they designed Xenoblade Chronicles—to boost morale after the poor reception Xenosaga received.

“We began Monolith Soft in 1999, with funding from Namco before they became Bandai Namco. The first game we made was Xenosaga, but because we were developing it while we were building the organization, we didn’t have enough people,” Takahashi recalls. “The programmers and the planners were all rookies. At the time, the director of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X, [Koh] Kojima, had just joined the company right after graduating college.”

He continues, “And, it’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but the graphics engine was only completed six months before the development deadline. That’s the schedule we were on. So—and this is a bit of an excuse—but at the time, I felt that because no one on the team making Xenosaga had any experience, it might be a little too difficult for us to make our ideal game yet.”

“We released three games in the Xenosaga series, but they weren’t very well received,” Takahashi admits. “It was really mortifying. All of the young team members felt that way, not just the leaders. So we all decided, ‘Next time we need to make a game that players will enjoy.’ So that made the atmosphere during the Xenoblade Chronicles development very different compared to other games.”

Developing Xenoblade Chronicles involved “burning bridges” with Monolith Soft’s past habits in some sense, Takahashi says. (More can be read about this subject in the original Iwata Asks interview for the game.) Iwata pitches in with his own thoughts on the matter in response, stating that Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii failed to live up to user expectations in a similar manner to Xenosaga, and that this motivated the development team to create Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Splatoon.

New Fire Emblem looks incredible, but 2016 for NA

A new Animal Crossing was announced called Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for 3DS. It doesn't seem to be a traditional AC game. From what I understood, you will play a house designer whose goal is to make a room for a village's residence. You can unlock new villagers and houses to design through the first wave of amiibo cards. The amiibo reader attachment for older 3DS models will be released along with that game.
