Lobster Charlie, it's funny because i agree with practically everything you said in your review, with the exception of the last few lines.

I am very glad they atleast attempted to centre the film around Lois & CK, even if it wasn't executed in an original manner or very engaging(not to mention wooden acting, and Routh's relentless mimicry of Reeve, which hurts the film more than it does it good). Anyhow, i'm sure some supervillains will appear in the sequel, but for now i'm certain this was the right thing to attempt.

But the rest, i agree with completley. Routh is just about likeable enough to give a damn; but Bosworth? Ok Lois should not be adorable, but the actress and writers have to be able to make us care-she always was and still is the wrong choice for Lane.

The two main things that bug about the film was the whole Donnerverse thing. At first i though a sequel was an inspired idea, but now i think the film really lacked a specific identity to it. And lastly the kid-it was just too much swallow and although it wasn't total Hollywood shlock(mostly though), i'm pretty sure the die-hards will find it hard tio take also.

Now, i'm not a stickler for adaps being faithful. I thought the way they messed with Batman Begins, for example, was absolultey a great choice and was beneficial to the film, but the Super-kid thing is just frickin pointless and lame.

People were asking leading up to this 'event' whether it will be as good as Batman Begins. IMO it doesn't even come close. If im going to grade it i'd give it 6/10
 
oh and also Metropolis was wasted. If you saw blogs and set pic it was so detailed, but it this was wasted in the film itself. As Charlie said it was pretty much NYC. Although this being a Donner clone thats's not unexpected

Nope, another thing that has been changed for the film... at first it was Lex who made supes leave... and now, astronomers just found the remains... so stupid.. the other thing would have been a lot more cool. Just what the **** is goin on!????????????
 
The super-kid is not pointless. I used to think so too, but the last ten minutes of the movie made me change my mind.
We see Clark feeling lonely and isolated throughout most of the movie. But then in the end he finds out he's not alone. He has a son. And with time maybe he'll even have a new family. To me it's a very human aspect of this guy, and it combines the old with the new. Because this is whole new ground with Superman. In the future we can have brand new stories. Good stories I hope.

Vader i agree with that it was a way of humanising Superman and to show that he is not isolated but sorry, for me it didn't work that a half-human half-'Super' kid makes him feel less alone. Of course, it opens up a can of stories for sequel(Clark misses sons ballgame because he's putting out a bushfire in Australia etc yawn yawn)-but i am a die-hard, a die-hard who WAS willing to accept changes, but not this change. It was too much and it did not work on any emotional level for me. That's not to say everyone here who has yet to teh film will feel the same way.
 
It probably worked better for me cause I'm a chick, and as we all know SR is a chick flick. :D

I am fine with him, but he should a bit calm down.

He also should listen to opinion of people, who have seen it. They better know what worked and what didn't work.
 
I have read a lot of disappointments around the boards concerning this movie. Is it really that bad? Ive got tickets for the 10:15 pm on the 28th and its in IMAX 3D so is this movie really that bad?:confused:

You haven't read positive? What about RT percent? TIME Magazine review? AICN review? Variety review? Newsweek? Hollywood Reporter?

Also, we have 3-4 people, who have seen it and they loved it.

Believe me, SR is way better than X3. Some people said it is better than even other Superman movies.

As what I read (spoilers), this movie looks and sounds like very good and maybe 1st excellent movie of this year.

98% of all the things I've heard about this movie has been positive (from this board and bluetights)

Are you sure you're in the right forum and people are talking about SR?

No it is not really that bad-because preference is what decides. I thought it was very average and contrived, but many ppl love it. Make yer own mind up, and it is definatley worth seeing.

And Cineman ios right, it's way better than X-3, but everythings better than X-3 so...

More evidence of all the 'negative' reviews making some of the most stupid statements Ive ever heard. He should make friends with the guy that compared Supes with Hitler, or the other that compared the film to Guantanemo Bay.
