Ebert´s reviews are post either as a sound file from his TV show with Roeper or the online version of his Chicago Sun Times review... If none are online, than it´s probably fake.

I´m generally okay with Nick - dunno what´s his problem with SR, though - but Devin I can´t stand. I think CHUD tends to go overboard with the sarcasm thing, they tend to sound like British press, always cynical about every movie, "we´re cooler than this" kind of attitude. I stopped reading them cuz of that.

Big big big on saying that, I can't tell you how many former Chud readers I've come across who share that opinion.

Yeah, that was on TV, a bunch of people watched it and commented on it.

This however, just popped up on these Superman boards, and now any links or quotes seem MIA.

Ebert didn't like it. His full review isn't out yet, but there is a column in the Chicago Sun-Times called the "one-minute critic" where Ebert gives a quick run-down of all the movies that are out or soon to be released. He gave it 2 stars out of 4...quote:

"A glum, lackluster movie in which even the big effects sequences seem dutiful instead of exhilarating. Brandon Routh is monosyllabic as Clark Kent, and microsyllabic as Superman."

I live in Sumter, South Carolina and tomorrow on the military base they're having a free screening of Superman Returns at 2:00pm. I'll post a review here in this thread after I see it tomorrow.

I've always been a big fan of the Superman comics, the first two Superman movies, and of course the Animated Series that followed.

In any case, I'll post a review of what I thought tomorrow. Just figured I'd share with my fellow SR friends.

Is this going to be held at Shaw Air Force base? I used to live in Columbia, SC and pass by there quite often. The only other base I know around the area is Fort Jackson.

I think it's a joke too. I've looked on his website and Ebert & Roeper and I can't find any reviews of Superman Returns

Yep, at Shaw Air Force Base tomorrow. I rarely, if ever, attend the theater on Shaw. However, this is a special event and since it's free it'd be stupid of me to not even go.

It looks like (right now) it was a fake. Apparently, someone did the same thing (produsing a fake Episode 1 review) before in Eberts name. Looks like the same deal.

What a dumb review, seriously. Comparing SR to a film about Guantanamo? Wtf.

The guy is just a jackass with a political ax to grind bashing the US and the Superman film/character who he seems to view as a sympol of American power run amuck in his review. The idiot barely had anything to say about the actual movie in his review. I can't believe Rotten Tomatoes puts him on their critic list. He obviously wants to be a political commentator and not a film critic.

Thus far Ebert if it is true is the only person to give this a negative review who I consider a true movie critic. The other negative review on Rotten Tomatoes seems to be from some fan boy who was supposedly bashing the production throughout its filming and predictably bashed it upon seeing it.

I was a lot shocked to hear him say it sucked. He gushed over Spiderman 2 because of the action, character, and drama/emotion... SR is built on the same philosophy, but IMO Supes/Clark is a MUCH better character. So I'm glad to know that we have a probable fake.
