This movie wasn't the greatest comic book film I've ever seen, but it has to be one of the most emotional and depth perceiving ones. It sets up potential for more greatness. And I'm glad they did so, because you shouldn't let all of the tricks out of the box at first try.

Now that's what I like to hear (or read in this case).

But don't forget that Osborn is
fatally ill! Do you really think a man in his condition would still be able to walk/talk!?
.

Well we don't know his illness, so it's hard to judge how he'd be able to walk.

Seeing it again next week with the family so I could get a better understanding on where I stand.

But the more that I think about it, the more I smile like a doofus. Seriously, there is so much potential being built up by this film for a sequel.

Just got back, drinking a beer, and some Mcdonalds to celebrate,:D:up: WOW, JUST WOW, LOVED IT ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!:up: I loved Raimi's films, 2 being my favorite, having said that, This IS Spider-man, This just blew Raimi's trilogy out of the freaking water, I have to say it, AMAZING, 10 OUT OF FREAKING 10!:awesome::up:

So hyped I'm not even gonna sleep, going back in a few hours to see it again, and again, and gain, and again!:o:oldrazz::D:up:

Loved the film!!! 4.5/5! Why 4.5? Because of some pacing issues, but they're very minor.

Loved! It!

9/10
Easily my favorite spider-man film...they got almost everything perfect...pacing was a lil odd at times but everything else was near perfect and this is almost as great as tdk to me...better than the avengers...

Just seen it 8/10
Good start!! Glad now we can move on to the meat in a sequel!

I'm not sure what rating I would give the film yet, but I liked it.

Garfield and Stone.

Happy I went to see this, because I liked it. The two leads make the movie.

Garfield >>>>>>>> McGuire.
Stone >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dunst.

This is one of those movies which, for as enjoyable as it is, is also kind of disappointing, because it feels about 20-25 minutes too short. A little bit more depth and we have a classic, best of year caliber movie. Instead, it settle for fun crowd pleaser. It's so well cast and well acted that you can TASTE the greatness, so when it settles for good, its kind of a buzzkill.

The entire films feels rushed. Every relationship is underdeveloped, but the two most important tones - peter & Gwen, peter & parents - work because the actors playing the roles do an excellent job.

It's funny how much chemistry helped the Peter - Gwen relationship, because there is so little really there. There is no development, they just have a spark. Do Peter and Gwen have an actual conversation in this movie? Serious question. They have the best superhero chemistry since Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder, 34 years ago. I just kept waiting for the "interview" equivalent, but it never comes. There is an obvious spark, and bit of a connection, but we feel no bond grow.

Dennis Learys role felt awkward and forced, which it shouldn't have. Again, script problems. His role and character should have an impact, but it doesn't.

The Lizards relationship with Peter, and his scheme at the end??

Do not get me wrong, I may see it again. I am just frustrated we got another IRON MAN, when with another 25 minutes from the same cast/crew, we could have had a BATMAN BEGINS/THE DARK KNIGHT type of jaw dropping instant classic.

B+

I loved the "oh s***" reaction that my theater's audience got when Captain Stacy walked into Gwen's room. The sheer irony of this was well played.

The "mother......" line from Spidey as he's talking to Gwen on the phone got the biggest laugh. Hell, I laughed out loud because I couldn't believe that even went there. It was a geniune "oh, no he didn't" moment.

At this point I'm simply speechless at how lucky we are.

Best summer ever.

ASM gets a solid A from me. A very rare achievement.

I expected it to be good but it blew away my expectations. So many great moments.

Yeah, I expected it to be great, but it was even greater than I expected.

Oh man. So much to say about this spectacular movie...
I just saw this movie about 30 minutes ago and I am so satisfied with everything Marc Webb did and am glad he directed it.
Spiderman was everything he was supposed to be and Andrew Garfield was merely perfect for this huge role. The smart-ass, ass-kicking, web-slinging is in motion you guys! :)
Gwen Stacy as the first love, the Lizard as the first villain (and hopefully as a continuous nemesis as well), Aunt May's knowing of Pete as Spidey, JUST EVERYTHING SO RIDICULOUSLY AS I EXPECTED IT TO BE. GAH
just amazing... but you should already know cause its in the title. Hope everyone else enjoys and I really tried to keep the spoilers to a minimum, but I got too excited just typing about it.

We don't know how much she knows, if anything at all.

I think Connors wasn't necessarily addicted to the serum. He seemed to have an alter ego that was the Lizard so I think it f-ed with his mind (one of the side effects maybe) because when the antidote counter-acted the initial drug, Connors had the intention of saving Pete when he couldnt get his grip on the glass even though the Lizard wanted to basically kill him. This is just my opinion. :)

I had planned on going to sleep as soon as I got home but I'm still hyped lol. My wife wanted to see TASM bad but couldn't go tonight since she needed her sleep. There was no way I was passing up the midnight show so I promised I'd take her tomorrow. I'm thankful it was a very good movie and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I already know she's going to love this movie for the character moments alone.

She's gotta know something is up seeing Peter come home battered multiple times and he looked like he had been in a trainwreck when he came home from the final battle lol. She's smart enough to connect the dots.

That was such a great scene, Connors basically battling within himself, oh such a great movie, I still can't get over it, loved it loved it loved it lol!:D:up:

I'm sure she will, it's an Amazing movie, come on, I had to say it lol.:oldrazz::D:up:

I'd give this an easy 8 out of 10. A case could be made for 9. I loved it, by far the best adaptation of the material I've ever seen. I cared about Peter, and the rest of the characters, even Flash Thompson. The middle needed some breathing room, bought I can forgive that for such a fun flick. Can't wait for the sequel.

Movie was great. With the exception of a few key things that were left out, it had absolutely everything I have wanted to see in a Spider-Man movie. For those that have complained and used the "been there, done that" argument - find something new. There is PLENTY of elements in this movie that were never even touched upon in the original trilogy.

Within 10 min I leaned over to my friend and said "this is the guy that was meant to play Peter Parker." He's absolutely perfect. He's still shy and awkward, without being that quiet awkward kid that you think is going to shoot up your school. The banter between Gwen and Peter is spot on, and at times you cringe at how uncomfortable the two are at flirting with each other. I liked Tobey (didn't love him), but Garfield IS Peter Parker.

Emma Stone's portrayal of Gwen Stacy completely overshadows almost every single superhero girlfriend we've seen on film. She's Peter's equal both mentally and verbally. While Peter is quick with his wit and sarcasm, she's just as quick - if not quicker. I sincerely hope they keep her around in the sequel - let us continue to fall in love with the character, and let her meet her ultimate demise in the third. I feel like by the time the third is released, our emotional investment in her/them will allow us to REALLY feel a sense of loss when she dies (her death HAS to come at the hands of Osborn).

Although facially, he looks like a "goomba" from "Super Mario bros." it was pretty awesome to FINALLY see the Lizard onscreen duking it out with Spidey. There were some few minor things about both Lizard and Connors that bugged me, but not enough to seriously detract from the movie.

The rest of the supporting cast does an excellent job as well. I was worried about Sheen and Field being cast because they're such well known actors. I was completely wrong. Both actors do a great job in their roles, and I love the new, "modern" take on both Uncle Ben and Aunt May. I was never a fan of the frail, weak, couple who raised Peter. In this version, they're old enough to have the paternal feeling towards Peter, but still young enough to relate to what he might be going through in his life. Dennis Leary nails Capt. Stacy. I've been a big fan of his for awhile, and absolutely loved him on "Rescue Me," so it's nice to see him play a different kind of character.

Overall, I absolutely love the movie. THIS is what Spider-Man should be. His mannerisms, movements, displays of his powers, etc are all dead on. The way he moves is absolutely incredible - there are a few "holy *****" moments of him displaying his abilities in combat.

If I had to rate it, I'd give it a solid 9/10. There are a few things that were left out that really irked me, but as a whole, this film is fantastic (not going to say "amazing").

Rated 8/10

IMHO

What worked:

  • The Lizard. Very true to the comics in motives/powers
  • Norman Osborn's presence, or lack there of
  • Uncle Ben
  • Peter and Gwen
  • The fight sequences
  • His powers (strength scaled down, agility scaled up)
  • The Costume

What didn't work:

  • Aunt May and Peter
  • Uncle Ben's Killer being an unresolved plotline
  • The unresolved fate of the mutant rat "Freddy"
  • Cpt. Stacey finding out about Peter and his subsequent fate
  • The web cartridges being stolen Oscorp property

My speculations:

  • Osborn is already the Goblin. What he took is killing him
  • The lizard will return (which was indicated by the fact he still had scales)
  • Aunt May will find out he is Spider-Man in the next film if it wasn't already obvious
