official Shohreh Aghdashloo/DR KAVITA RAO thread

I think, if you're taking the appropriation of Whedon's "gifted" arc directly, Soames should be Angel and I suppose Collosus would be Leech. But I think it's less a direct transition and more 'inspired by' type ide.
Yeah thats what i meant.:)

Actually, that idea was also borrowed from a District X comic where a mutant secreting an hallucinogenic drug was kept prisoner for a drug lord and sold a new substance that poisoned the streets,
Interesting. I didn't know that.

The most interesting thing I'm finding with the tidbits I'm hearing about the new film is that more and more of it seems to be inspired by recent X-menish comics, (those of the past 5/6 years), rather than the historical 'classic' ones.

Alot of the Magneto rallying bits seem to be from Ultimate X-Men arcs, "return of the king" and "the tomorrow people", the aforementioned, "gifted" and District X's "mr m" are cure related, Morrison's now infamous "planet x" has echoes of a wolverine/magneto/phoenix confrontation(s), and I see shades of Frank Tieri's Weapon X with the more obscure mutants and the prison camp etc...

On the same token, mutant prison camps, cures, phoenix's, mutant armies and characters such as Arclight, Leech, Quill (yes the captain britain one), Callisto, Moira and Multiple Man have been around for a LONG time.

In fact there are a lot of Excaliburian era mutants in this film.. (?)

And some Australian X-Men era mutants as well.. (?)

But with that said, in some cases, the modern X-Men stories seem to be a little bit more 'mature' and less sci-fi than the classic ones, so perhaps that's it.

Ah, Sexy Terrorist Mom. One of the many high points from 24 Season 4.

Shohreh isn't a true Indian, but while she's in character there in the trailer, they've certainly taken some strides in making her as Indian as they can...(makeup, hair,...etc)

She'll probably have an Indian inflection in the movie to pull the whole package off..

It's fine, people...Stop looking past the character..

I think she is a great actress but all I can say is that being Persian myself, there is no mistaking her origin down to her accent when she speaks english.

This must be the longest official thread title i've seen.:p

So i figure the writers have replaced Tildie Soams with Angel and Benetech laboratories with Worthington industries from Joss Whedon's story?

:p

I'm surprised no one's jumped on where they thought I got the quote from.

LOL! I've got tears in my eyes, that was priceless!

Well, take out cure, add in another choice word and you've got a line sung, I think, by Madonna. I don't know why I thought of that when I made this, maybe just that Shohreh's voice would sound great saying it.

How can you explain the amount of screentime that Shoreh will get in the movie? Is her character that big a deal? Besides being a scientist in Worthingon Lab.

*She has a fair amount of screentime, and she’s a big part of some major scenes. I love her performance in the film. She gives the role a sense of reality. And her voice is fantastic.

Yay, she gets plenty of screentime!

She is in the trailer so she is a pivotal character obviously. The cure is half of the story and she is part of that story line so we will be seeing some of Dr. Rao.

Maybe she knows Trask personally... I have a feeling...
Yes, I hope so. It would make sense.

Kinberg is answering questions? *runs to Xverse*

It's not a line from madonna. its the key quote said by Mrs. Robinson in 'The Graduate'

That too.

Madonna didn't actually say it, she actually played a loop of Ms. Robinson saying it from the film for her Erotica & Vogue videos.

<------Sad madonna fan her (just as much as X-Men)

Maybe it's just me, I found the thread title kind of sexual, if one thinks in depth about it...

You know, Would you like me to cure you. As in, you know.

Or maybe it's just me...

Thats what were getting at...its a pun on the quote...

'Would you like me to seduce you?'

God can you imagine if Shohreh were to play Ms. Robinson in 'The Graduate' on the stage. She would ROCK!!! as well as be the first non-white actress to play the role.

Well I did put "cure" in the place of "seduce", so you do the math. ;)

Oh yes, of course... :p

*Worthy changes subject to forget the stupidity he's just shown*

So, um, is Shohreh's voice sexy or what?

:p

Yes, it is. I loved her on Exorcism of Emily Rose.

"Would you like me to seduce you"? Haha, I knew the line sounded somewhat sexual. :p

Isn't that what voice coaches are for? :p

In all honesty, Shohreh probably have an easy time doing accents from that part of the world. I personally don't have a tough time doing regional accents, and I'm from that part of the world.

But even being Indian, Persian, whatever, I doubt it's gonna be a distraction. I suspect there's going to be a lot to pay attention to.
