I don't think any film will make as much as Spidey 3 this year.

Domestically, yes, I don't think anything will beat it. Worldwide, it looks like POTC 3 will edge its way past it, but not by a big amount.

True, but I find that Superhero films are a different breed. For Spider-Man to have the level of success it has had worldwide is just amazing...flat out amazing. It has redefined Superhero overseas success.

Of course, I'm glad it has done as well as it has and for it to be as close to POTC 3 as it will be is awesome.

No doubt at all, especially considering how the first two did.

Spidey WILL rule the box office. The ONLY reason i am pulling for POTC 3 to be 2nd is for Keira Knightley.

345k for Spidey 3 on Friday. Damn, I was expecting at least 500k. But it lost 800 theaters, so I guess this was to be expected. I don't suspect we will see Spidey 3 make his way to $340 million.

Realistically it will most likely finish with 335-338, but it will hit the cheap theaters soon and that could give it a nice boost, but how big of a boost will be the question.

Damn, early estimates are that FF2 should drop around 65% this weekend, VERY bad for a movie that didn´t have a massive 100m-plus opening. it will make considerably less than one. That´s why I say, with all SM3´s problems, at least they always took the characters seriously and let the story breathe, the same can´t be said about the FF franchise.

Ha lol but what you can say about the FF franchise is that they tried to at least do something different and have a more light hearted approach instead of being angsty and sad like all the other comic adaptations out there. At least they tried something different. I Actually liked FF2 and wish it did better that drop is a big disappointment it deserves to make so much more than the first one.

Oh well at least people are showing love to the awesome 1408.

Well Spider-Man Domestic Close Date was August 18, 2002 . The dvd came out : November 1, 2002

http://www.BOXOFFICEMOJO.com/movies/?page=daily&id=spiderman.htm

and SPIDER-MAN 2 Domestic Close Date was November 14, 2004
The dvd Release Date: November 30, 2004

http://www.BOXOFFICEMOJO.com/movies/?page=daily&id=spiderman2.htm

so it all depense on when the dvd released date is . On how long Spidey 3 will remain in theaters . Prehaps it is still possible to get 350 Domesticly .
350 isn't possible at the rate it is going now and it's only goign to get lower with every passing week. It can make 350 MAYBE if it stays in theaters for an entire year then maybe it might crawl there lol but that isn't going to happen. It has a small chance of crawling to 340 but more than likely it will cut off just barely before it hits that.

The rumor is October 30th for the DVD/Blu-Ray release.

I can't wait for the DVD to come out. I'm ready to see Spidey 3 again. :spidey:

Lets hope they release a speciel extended version or a directors cut of sorts
I think they might. speaking of the Spidey3 DVD, I'm very glad it's going to be 2-Disc (I know it will because the first two films were). I can't wait to see the making of Venom.

I want to see that movie.

As for FF2...I won't argue that. But I thought people's problem with SM3 was it wasn't dark enough. That there was too much lighthearted humor with the dancing and jazz club bits. Yet others think it was too angst.

Can it win?

I'm with the it wasn't dark enough group. I respect FF and FF2 for trying to do something different and make a lighter movie and that adds some appeal for me but I still prefer the angst and the dark movies.

I don´t think the lighthearted thing is the problem... The Incredibles was lighthearted. There´s a lot of lighthearted stuff in STM or even the first two Spidey movies. Problem is just the quality of the movies.

There's lightheartedness and there's not taking anything seriously. I applaud both of the FF movies for trying a different AND faithful approach, but I think their main problem is the latter. Plus, as ultimatefan stated, quality isn't their strong point either...

Raimi already discussed that because of the alien symbiote, he felt the story needed to be brought back down to earth. He used dancing and crying to make the film feel more human and less sci-fi, which he was more than successful in doing. I think he did as well as he could--as it has been said a million times, I'm sure an extended/director's cut will be better.
