It you read the post I was replying to, it was talking about guys who like SR posting Spiderman 3 bashing stuff in the SR forums. I have seen it, so I was confirming it. I was also stating that it is good that Spiderman is spanking SR's take. Maybe then Warner's will realize they can't release that crap they called SR. My post was very on topic concerning the post I was replying too.

Well Pirates will clean up at the boxoffice. It is pirates landlubbers. i expect Pirates and Shrek to canabalize each other however in terms of huge earnings. I expect Pirates to do like 100 million and shrek will fall to about 50 million.

It is going to be weird this weekend.

As a huge Spider-Man fan of both the comics/films/cartoons, I also liked the first POTC. POTC: DMC was another story. While the film was enjoyable, it lacked something the first Pirates had. To me, DMC was the more muddled film when comparing it to SM3, which I hold in high regard.

As far as the box office goes, it's no suprise Spidey is doing that well. I guess people can't get enough of their favorite wall crawling pal. BTW, I will be seeing SM3 for a sixth time this weekend at my local drive-in theater; SM3 and POTC: AWE are showing for only 5 bucks.

It doesn't really matter about reviews when it comes to these types of event films. Pirates 2 made 1 Billion bucks worldwide with mostly bad reviews on RT.

Seriously, if movies worked by reviews, SM2 should have had 3 to 4 Oscar nods (and made more than SM1 at the box office), being that it was one of the best reviewed live-action movies of 2004. Yet, it only got a tech./Special Effects award. Thus, is why I don't pay much attention to reviews. It's always the people (movie-goers) whom decide these films fate, not movie critics.

I never thought Pirates rating would be that low. I am seeing it Thursday, so I hope it doesn't suck like that (but I don't put too much stockin critics..SM3 was far better than the critic rating it has gotten).

As for the box office, Shrek 3 and Pirates 3 are at a disavantage right now. They are really just going to muffle each others' box office takes this weekend, while Spidey comfortably holds the third spot, and enjoyed two competition-less weeks. It's also the best reviewed of the three, thus far, which can only help.

I think pasrt of what will hurt Pirates is the running time. 2 3/4 hours is alot to sit through....especially for a kid. Alot of parents who were avoiding the Shrek 3 crowds last weekend may see the running time and decide to take their kids to a movie that will be more likely to hold their attention, and last a little less...and Shrek3 and Spidey 3 will be right there.

Damn I wasn't expecting POTC 3 to be so low on RT. It will have a huge weekend but if what the critics have said about it I'm wondering if WOM will hurt it in the following weeks. A lot of people were disappointed with the second and hearing the third wasn't that great may sway them from going to see it.

That runtime will hurt it in a couple of ways this weekend. I think that Disney saw this, and realized they needed more screenings (hence the Thursday night opening). I hope it is good though. At nearly 3hrs, if it sucks that will be a very bad experience. This is almost 20 minutes longer than DMC.

Last week Shrek 3 was over $ 110 million. Spider-Man 3 was under $ 37.5 million.

Good lord. Just talked to my manager friend down at the local multiplex. There having 14 showings a day. Tickets went on sale Monday, and Friday thru Sunday are sold out, and they are about 3/4 full for Monday. He said he's having people from other surounding areas looking for tickets. 11,200 tickets available. Allready sold 10,500.

But users 85 %. It's not going to matter. This film will be monsterious. POTC 2 had 54 % critics, and 75 % users, and we saw what happened there. So forget the critics. 1 billion WW is just about a given.

Yeah critics only like those stupid ass drama movies. Any movie with big special effects and fun is always panned by them. Critics don't matter. The average person does not care about what a bunch of fat ass critics have to say about a movie.
