I think Michael bay movies hit a lull when nothing's blowing up. He's not the best director dramatically. Way too sentimental for my taste.

WELL YOU CAN'T REALLY HAVE DRAMA WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF SENTIMENTALITY OR ELSE THE AUDIENCE IS UNLIKELY TO BUY INTO IT!!! I THINK HE DOES A GOOD JOB WITH THE DRAMATIC PARTS IN HIS FILMS, THEY'RE NOT SHAKESPEARE BUT REALLY THEY DON'T NEED TO BE!!! AS LONG AS IT'S AN ENTERTAINING, GOOD, FUN STORY THAT PEOPLE CAN ENJOY, AND YOU GET TO KNOW THE CHARACTERS AND AT LEAST HAVE SOME EMPATHY FOR THEM, IT'S ALL GOOD!!!up:

If Transformers makes over 200 million, FF 2 should make over 400 million. Just because Speilberg is attatched to the film, all of a sudden that makes it a megahit ? Michael Bay is still the director. The king of shlock. It opens by itsself opening weekend, and with them starting on Tuesday it should be a good first 11 day total. It may even make 200 it's opening 11 days. Not that Transformers is any good, but it's the only show in town till Harry Potter opens. Once Harry Potter opens, you can take the Transformers, and throw them in the junk yard. Cause it's tank time. Doesn't mean dit to me, because FF 2 will have allready made theirs by the time it opens. Sneaky little bastards. FF 2 had the July 4th slot locked in, then Transformers jumped in. Should be 1st come first served. You want the slot, get there 1st. Once you have a slot others should be hands off. Go find another slot.

Dont Bay's movies typically clean up? I know Pearl Harbor underperformed and The Island wasnt a hit, but his films are usuallly a success, and arent based on established franchises. The Transformers might not be a massive draw to the general public, but big robots in general are.

No one is underestimating it if you know anything about movies or the box office it would be obvious that transformers has no chance what so ever at 300M. It has nothing to do with hating the movie it simply has no chance.

Amazing how fast they got rid of Ang Lee, Michale France, and Eric Bana. Hopefully the new crowd does better. They certinaly could not do worse. Hulk sank like a rock it's 2nd weekend. 69.7 %. The same man who wrote FF. Pattern here ?

Couldn't agree more though I won't put all the blame for War of the Worlds on Spielberg. Tom Cruise deserves a massive amount of it him self.

I didn't have a problem with your opinion. I don't mind that you like bay or that you want to see Transformers. That's your opinion cool whatever.

The BS you put up was that if you watch a movie for what it is and drop all expectations at the door you can enjoy it. That isn't opinion it's simply wrong.

You enjoy a film if you think it is good or it entertained you. It has nothing to do with expectations or watching it for what it is. If I want to see a comedy I watch it for what it is a comedy I don't judge it by the same standards I would a drama, but it damn well better be funny and entertaining. If I watch a action movie I expect their to be fighting and explosions and like any other movie no matter the genre a decent plot.

Everyone watches a movie for what it is. No one want in to Wedding Crashers expecting a amazing dramatic movie with incredible depth. They went to see a comedy and they got one.

If you drop all expectations at the door you couldn't watch a movie for what it is because I would expect a comedy how crap wait gotta drop that at the door. Now what. Every movie should have a standard a comedy should be funny. A action movie should have action and a drama should be dramatic. Hell a porno should have two people screwing. These are not expections you can drop at the door. You also can not drop the expectation of a decent story that keeps you entertained or a plot that actually makes sense (well Ok in a porno those last two can be dropped as long as there are boobies.)
