Ah, thanks alot. That sounds awesome!

2011 will make my brain explode with so many films coming out that year. The year I graduate it's pretty fitting.

It's funny the shortest of the four books is now going to be two movies.

Sorry, no news on the film, but I figured this might be interesting to some:

Link: "The Hunt For Gollum".

Basically it's a ridiculously ambitious fan film that tells one of the untold tales that fit well into the LOTR-universe.

Link: Trailers for the doubters. ;)

Might whet your appetite further for "The Hobbit".

That actually didn't look too bad. My computer is currently running in Safe Mode so no audio atm. :(

As for the idea of spanning the Hobbit into two movies I'm glad they came to that decision. I wasn't really supporting the bridging film at all not to mention all these cameos. And I do hope the White Council will include Radagast the Brown and Cirdan the Shipwright. They actually cast an actor for Cirdan back when LOTR came out too though I'm sure we never saw him on screen.

I still support Ron Perlman to play Beorn. And has anybody thought where Doug Jones may fit into this. An Elf without question. And Martin Freeman is a fantastic choice for Bilbo. I'm guessing it would be very expensive if they used Ian Holm with that aging technology they used in X-Men 3 or Benjamin Button.

John Hurt is Radagast the Brown. If the character is in the films, then John Hurt has to play him.
Thinking about the other roles in the film I think Brian Cox would make an excellent Thorin, and although I was (and still am) supportive of Martin Freeman playing Bilbo, I think that a better choice would be Michael Sheen.

Hey John Hurt would be amazing as Radagast. Good call.

Honestly I wish that rumor of James McAvoy playing Bilbo was true.
It would be weird tho since we've already seen a Hobbit scene recreated in LOTR

I'll be waiting with baited breath. My money's on McAvoy(sp?) getting the Bilbo role. He's got a very round, Hobbit-ish face.

Why new thread?

News this momentus deserves special attention :)

I'm so glad this is moving forward. I was beginning to worry it would never happen.

I agree, McAvoy could pull it off.

I haven't been following this terribly closely... I remember a rumor sprouting up that Aragorn might be in it, replacing Bard. I'd have no problem with that, since Bard is a fairly bland character. Anyone know if there was any truth to that rumor?

supposably aragorn would be in the 2nd part.

Man, slap some make up on Ian Holm and keep him as Bilbo.

^Not a chance. He's like in his 80's by now.

Speaking of Ian Holm, I watched The Sweet Hereafter the other day. Anyone see that? Man, he was great in that movie. So was Bruce Greenwood (Captain Pike).
