That's not entirely true. As long as you aren't talking about stuff that's already in the media. You'll find "The Hobbit" is on a lot of lips here in this town. NZ does things a little differently than America. ;)

So any anonymous poster who just joined can claim to be working on any random big movie and they're totally telling the truth? Gotcha.

He may have a point, though: New Zealand is a relatively economically unimportant country with a very small (and dwindling) population. It's much more likely that your average Kiwi knows someone who knows someone who polishes Peter Jackson's shoes or passes him toilet paper, than would your average American if the movie was being made there.

I said as long as you're discussing things already in the media. Read between the lines on that one. And I would imagine if what they say rings true, then that isn't really in question. There is secrecy involved with every film... You'd be a d@mn fool to divulge something you weren't supposed to.

:funny: Not true. The population is steadily increasing. You should look into emigrating here. ;)

Pony, I will say this much.

If you are involved in this project, and you have seen the design for Smaug, then you're a bastard :csad:.

The date will be made in 2012. They have enough time. The shoot for both is 18 months. It even finishes up before the release of the first part.

Edit- forget it, I misread my own graph.

You mean you made the graph or..? ;)

We love taking in Yankees! So come on down.

Actually the last guy I worked with came from one of the big digital houses in San Fran, and MAN!- he had the worst attitude... he hated it here. After nearly an hour of this guy talking about how much America was better I simply said "Well why don't you go back then?" No kidding... The guy packed up his balls and left about 3 weeks later.

Ever since Peter Jackson lost weight and became GQ Jackson, does he have the same sence of jolly humor as he did when he was tubby? Back then, he was always lively and jokey, but now he's a bit stiff and serious.
haha, i know what you mean...I think the pressure and stress of the last few years have gotten to him (remember the huge lawsuit he had with the production company, and the PC said that he would "never work on another Tolkien film again"?)

I loved when Jackson was big and jolly. He's a joy to watch in the appendices. He always made me laugh.

I don't blame him after what he's gone through if he's lost some of his humor. I don't mind him skinny though. I was totally shocked when I first saw him at the AFI George Lucas tribute.

You guys think they'll cast Smaug's voice actor before shooting begins, or do you think they'll hold it off for a couple of months?

I know PJ had Andy Serkis actually act out Kong with Naomi Watts, so that we felt an actual connection between Ann and Kong on screen. They even had Serkis up in a crane

I wonder if PJ will want to have Smaug's voice actor present for Martin Freeman to perform with.

Maybe it will get back to his joy and happiness when he starts to work with the actors.

I hope so.

But I'm glad he lost the weight. We want the guy around for as long as possible.

I'm sure Jackson will be euphoric once McKellen arrives.

I'm just curious what you guys think.

He'd be a voice actor, so they technically wouldn't need him until post-production. But again, PJ had Serkis act out Kong with Naomi. And I think John Rhys-Davies acted out Treebeard with Dom and Billy on set.

So it's possible that PJ would want Smaug's voice actor on set to act with Freeman, in which case they'd have to cast him this year.

I'm just looking forward to seeing who they get. I'm a dragon fanatic.

I'm actually looking forward to Smaug's design as much as I am as the actor they get to voice him.

I hope they keep to Del Toro's design. I'm dying to see it.

I remember hearing that they are keeping most of Del Toro's design work. Smaug is the spectacle of this film, cant wait.

This thing was never going forward without Serkis or McKellen, that much you already knew.

Did they release pics of Del Toro's design or just a description?

Question: Where does the White Council meetings usually take place at?
