I don't think it's a stand -in. The tow truck can also be seen here in the Mock up in front of Bumblebee. I haven't read the script but could some humans be driving away. If there were gona use a stand in car to make the others explode i think they would u se a truck made for that not just an old tow truck.

That's my opinion without reading the script.

After watching that again, I think it is clear that the truck is backing up quickly to avoid being shot at. And the cars blowing up out of its way are from being shot at ...

And whoever colored the video made it look like crap!

Kinda cool.. and at first I thought the thing we see transforming was Grimlock into robot form. But it isnt .. if you watch closely, it is actually one of the work vehicles.... a Constructicon!
